Not easy if you are out of shape....like me. A few parts where you have to scamper a bit. Definitely do not attempt in sandals.

Very pretty. Easy for the most part. You can’t swim right now due to algae.

Mellow loop - get what you pay for given how convenient to town. Pretty around sunset w the lake.

Nice easy trail. Short, with a few technical areas. (Mild rock climbing, jumping rocks, crouching through brush. Lots of shade.) No swimming due to algal bloom. Also, an area is blocked off so you’ll need to take the detour for a bit. Really hot and mildly smoky still. The waterfall is at low flow.

Definitely moderately difficult, woth frequent hills. Starting at this point you have mostly uphill for the last 30 minutes. Selby passes through beautiful forest, goat farms, and delightful and swimmable Lake Anza. Good for beginning acclimation to heat, since about 40% of trail is unshaded. Rocks and roots on some of the trail. Much of it is narrow, so expect to walk single file. Crosses a handful of other trails, some of which are unmarked. You could easily get off the trail if you are not paying attention. Parts of the trail are close to roads, so it doesn’t have that isolated wilderness feel. It’s still a beautiful trail, and one access point is only about a mile from a bus stop.

We had to get out during the social distancing m. Seen a few other people, everyone was great about hello’s from 6ft distance. God bless everyone stay healthy! Exercise in vase areas and get back home. We shall overcome this in time. Sorry to all the lost and family of those lost.

Nice enough little hike with a few good views of the lake. The lake was swarming with noisy children, teens, and a lifeguard on a megaphone so it was hard to enjoy the peacefulness of the area. The trail itself was pretty rocky and rough throughout but was pretty fun to maneuver. Mostly shaded with a few sunny spots.

Def not for a group hike - this area seems to be a teen hangout.

First to Review

This is a pretty hike along the lake through east bay woodlands, but it's not as easy as its short distance and minimal elevation would imply. Much of the trail that hugs the lakeside is very rugged, with boulders, big roots, and steep slopes. It can be quite difficult for anyone with even slight mobility issues. One section was basically a six-inch ledge against a low cliff... one misstep and you're going swimming. Great fun for kids, dogs and the athletic, but not recommended otherwise.
