Fishing lake, waterfowl, picnic areas, good level walking track, concrete dam The lake at the heart of this Orange County regional park is a secondary attraction to the green lawns and trees of the adjacent picnic areas. Many walk this trail as an afterthought or prowl it in search of one of the many lakeside fishing spots at the bottom of a set of railroad-tie stairs. Other than a nice level walk, there's not much here to attract the interest of a serious hiker but if you're looking for a Sunday afternoon's outing in midsummer, this might suit the bill. Be wary of the geese at the trailhead. They are none too fond of dogs and small children.

Nice walk, good views of the lake, dog friendly with wide level paths that are stroller friendly. This is a very clean and family friendly area. Hikers don’t be misled, this is a walking path, not a hike.

I run it, the shortest loop around is ~1.75 mi. Twice around is 3.44 mi. Every week. It can be lengthened by running all the pavement. A 10K is run there on July 4.

Short hike with some nice views. I parked near the Whole Foods off La Paz to avoid paying for parking. Was decently quiet but very windy when I was there. That probably helped. A good way to kill an hour or two.

Overall good solid walk in our neighborhood if we don't want to drive to Mission Viejo for the Oso Creek Trail. We parked by Whole Foods and walked along La Paz for parking, they charge you at the front gate! And watch out for lots of poop from the geese along the trail!

pleasant walk in late afternoon, with many birds including kildeer, white pelicans & red-wing blackbirds.

Easy walk around the lake. Pretty views. Can make it longer by walking all the way up to the botanical garden.

Easy walk with 4yr old and dog. Playgrounds are very nice and there is an abundance of restrooms and pavilions. Good place for a bbq.

Easy walk from the parking lot around the lake. Very flat and level. Stroller-friendly. Lots of birds on the lake and fishermen looking for fish. Partially shaded. Lots of places to stop for a picnic!

Nice park. They over charge for fishing. Paved trail was nice. Ran into a crabby ranger that thought we were walking too close to the geese. Is there 25 yard rule? We always respect nature and keep our distance.

Oh my gosh - this place is gorgeous! Hubby and I took our three year old and did a loop around the lake - it was fantastic. People jogging, walking their dogs, biking, parties being had - the area is perfect for that. We saw dragonflies, bunnies, geese, squirrels - even sweet little goslings! This is the definition of perfect for beginners - mostly flat, easy to walk, not too long (2 miles to loop the lake), and so much beautiful scenery to look at. Can't wait to explore more!
