This is an excellent trail if you want elevation. However, it is not very secluded and there are no facilities at the base of the trail. It is very heavily trafficked throughout the day. If you are going up with a stroller, be aware of a cut out section of the trail at the one mile mark. I saw some people carrying strollers across this section, but I wouldn't advise that. The trail is a great workout, but it feels like a death march on a road for most of it. There is very little seclusion and you never get the sense that you are too far away from civilization. Great views 360 degrees from the power station on top at about 3100 ft above sea level. The part of the loop that on the large main trail is fantastic, but the smaller parts of the loop (the parts of the loop on the left hand side) were all incredibly washed out and really dangerous to go down. I ended up slipping and scraping up my hand. If you’re going to scramble on the washed out parts, definitely bring hiking poles. The top of the hike did have a beautiful view overlooking LA though.

Definitely be aware that if you take the left route on the way up (there are two points where you can chose right or left) the trail is MODERATE/HARD, while the rest of the loop is MODERATE/EASY. The view from the top is fun to see from the Pacific Ocean all the way to the Crescenta Valley on a clear day.

Excellent hike for the sunset. Beautiful views and definitely worth it. A tad buggy at the top and minimal shade but a good workout!

The views up here at sunset are spectacular. I agree with the other commenter though – if you decide to go up the steep hill be prepared for it to be EXTREMELY HARD. Unless you are experienced and have really good shoes, do not attempt it or you will get badly hurt. It's a great workout though.

the best trail for running.

Great hike. Some of the trail has succumbed to the rain we’ve had so tread with caution. There’s also bee boxes about a mile in - if you’re allergic come prepared.

There is nothing here to hike. I tried to go on 6/1/19 and we saw 2 entrances to the trail right off La Tuna Canyon Road but there was a ton of construction, no parking, no trees, nothing to protect you from the sun, some porto potties. Basically this is not a nature hike. I have no idea where the waterfalls or verdant trees are supposed to be. We were so disappointed that it all looked like dry barren mountains. Perhaps because of all the previous fires? I don't know. But we didn't go on a hike there unfortunately. Go elsewhere. You need shade to hike in LA, and this is not it. Just sand and hills.

Not a bad hike if you’re trying to get some mileage in. Purely from an exercise standpoint, it’s a great hike- but if you’re going for nature views and scenery, it falls a little short.

I went today with my sister and our two dogs and noticed that someone has posted like 20 honey bee boxes along the trail. how is this allowed? what if I were allergic? I'm no where near an epi pen or hospital on that trail. does anyone else know what's going on?

After driving by the trailhead and seeing cars for years, I finally decided to try this trail. It was ok. The first 3/4 mile or so is on asphalt, next to the 210. After that, it becomes a dirt fire road, with some steep firebreaks running parallel in places, if you want to make it more challenging. At about 1.25 miles in, there is a big section that is washed out, though it's still passable. We didn't make it to the top, since we started too late. Not a lot of shade, and my companion today spilled his water bowl and then decided to lie down in a field of fox tails. Turned back less than halfway up. But I'll probably be back, if only to bag the peak from the north.

It was a nice walk up and back down. The recent rain storms had taken out a high chunk of the fire road in one section almost creating a new waterfall. There was still water running like a river on sections of the fire road.

The path was well kept and just challenging enough. Awesome views. Would go again.

pretty much an all incline hike but it's not the sort of incline that exhausts you, just feels like your walking up a mountain. The view at the end is amazing, you can see DTLA, Glendale and Burbank and the coastline. super pretty!

This trail is labeled moderate but if you decide to be brave and climb the ridiculous steep hill near the beginning, it should be labeled VERY HARD, be sure you’re ready for it. Don’t go up without hiking shoes, you will slip for sure and get hurt. It’s a very long hike and the views up top are really nice. Not much nature though as far as trees. Definitely a winter only trail since you are always exposed.

Fine hike. Tons of people and little parking spaces at 6am, so get there early! Good views of the city but I prefer to be a bit more outdoors.

Great trail. Very clean and wide. We encountered a baby rattle snake, so be careful. Be aware of your surroundings. It’s all part of the hike/walk.
