La Quinta Cove is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near La Quinta, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, nature trips, and mountain biking.
Kind a lost the trail a bit and made our own way for this hike. Not making new paths but just following random trails
Don’t let the trail photo fool you there is no lake on this hike. You would have to go another 3 miles to get to the lake. Easy out and back and would have loved to have my mtb to explore this area.
Very nice stroll out in the desert. It got warm near midday so be prepared with lots of water and look out for heat conditions prior to heading out.
This route is not what is shown on trail map. 3.2 miles to lake, 6.4 roundtrip.
Wonderful desert trail. Great hike but very little shade so wear a good hat and bring water.
Wear a mask! Not everyone was wearing a mask. Sandy and sunny. Wear hiking boots and take out your trash.
Pretty easy hike to do. Brought my 50+ y/o parents. High top shoes recommended because there’s some areas of soft sand where low tops would get buried. No shade so I’d wear a hat/sunblock, etc...
Trail was beautiful. Saw some gorgeous views of the cove covered in the sunset. Weather was great too.
Definitely the best expert-level trail for mountain biking. This Trail equals those that would be found in Mammoth Mountain or Tahoe... one thing to keep in mind is there are TONS of caves so make sure to bring protection. Additionally, especially the higher up you go, the potential for rain goes up. Absolutely beautiful!
