Kids like seals. You can walk right up to them in La Jolla. Then kids get bored so there are other things to do too. If you've been in San Diego for any amount of time, you're going to hear about seals. Seals are a source of great joy for the many children who visit and a great cause of concern for people who live in the path of all these children. Don't worry, none of them bite. Well, the seals probably do but they'll beat it for the water before you get close. This walk takes you not only into proximity of seals but all kinds of other sea creatures who call the La Jolla Tidepools home. Be prepared to get wet. There are also places to hydrate, eat and shop. Something for every member of the family.

Very crowded with tourists usually, but nice breeze and good spots for photographs and bird watching. Iconic spot in San Diego.

This may be my favorite spot ever! Yes, parking is tough, yes the area is crowded, no this is not really a hiking or running trail (thanks to the crowd), but there are seals, sealions, beautiful views, if you can get the right pictures, beautiful tides and tidepools. you can go kayaking, snorkelling, swimming. A lot of times with the seals. Lots of great spots in the area to eat and drink. The cave under the shop is a must go.

The La Jolla Cove and water front is a wonderful walking path. So much wild life, scenic views and fresh air. The surrounding streets are under repair so parking is very difficult . There are many restaurants up the street from the cove , or there is plenty of open space to bring a picnic. This is a perfect outing, can’t be beat.

Beautiful walk along the beach you can get right down next to the seals, visit sunny Jim’s sea cave (entrance through the Cave Store) and visit tide pools all in a 3 miles stretch worth the trip if your in the area get there early to get good parking.

First place I went after I made it into San Diego and it did not disappoint. Watched the mist clear and the sunrise into a beautiful sunny day. I'd recommend it to anyone. The seals were my absolute favorite part!

The water was 62 degrees. crystal clear 40' visibility the dive was perfect. Tons and tons of marine life and different species of fish. Surf was extremely rough getting in and out with monster waves smashing you repeatedly on the cliffs if you don't have a game plan and a little bit of luck with your timing.

Relaxing place to take a walk. Seals were stinky, you can get very close to them! Whole sky was on fire during sunset.

This trail is great for seeing awesome views of the coastline and the animals that inhabit the area. This trail can be very populated with people most days. The seals are fun to watch, and can be very entertaining. The smell from the seals is not pleasant, but it is manageable.

I love this little walking trail. It's very easy with only a couple of places with easy elevation changes. I usually continue onto the paved sections down to Nicholson Point and then walk back. Great ocean views and wildflowers during the spring. The trail can get busy on the weekends, so go during the week if you can.

Easy walk along the coastal cliffs in La Jolla, very easy area to spot sea birds as well as sea lions. The area is very busy with tourist though, but for good reason.

I have done this many, many times. I recommend a sunny early morning with a late breakfast at the Brockton Villa next to the Cove. This is certainly touristy, but at the same time highly recommended. It is a gorgeous piece of coastline with sea lions, snorkelers, seals, cormorants, pelicans, body surfers, dolphins, whales and the great pacific. Who needs Sea World after that?

I didn't know this was an official trail. Pretty much a tourist loop, but who ever visits La Jolla should certainly take the walk.

This walk offers a pretty sight of the ocean, sea lions and the sea gulls. It can't get any better on a warm sunny day!

More like sight-seeing than a hike lol. Still, one of the COOLEST spots to check out in all of Diego. I mean c'mon - sea lions!!! HECK YEA!!!
