This trail starts at bike path on Erma Rd. 6 miles out and back. Road bike path to trail head at Knott Memorial Park and through to Hosemans Park and ranger station at Mercy Rd. and Black Mountin Rd. The trail does contain some technical parts but not too difficult for hiking. Just beware of loose dirt on corners when Mountain Biking as tires can wash out.

Since the ranger station was built on corner of Mercy Rd. and Black Mountain Rd. the trail head is located just east of the ranger station on Mercy Rd. This is a great ride but be careful there are spots with loose dirt where your tires can wash out on corners.

Beautiful scenery and quiet. the small ponds host some fish and walking under the over pass is breathtaking.

Easy trail. I enjoyed it!. Not many spots to go off the trail and relax though.

A few things make this hike special and 5-star.
1) Several briges over water streams in summer
2) Dozens of crawl fish in water under the bridges
3) Memorial eclectic site in grove of trees with gazebo
look for this after going under hwy 15 heading east.
the trail mergers with a road for 100yds. memorial site is on your left and trail picks a up again
4) Trail length goes much farther then 3mi round d trip as it continues east into poway. hiked 5mi.I round trip and had left a few miles un-hiked.
