The hike along the falls on the way back is epic. We got to the trailhead at 9am on a weekday and it was wide open. Lots of cars once we finished at 11:30am

Take the steeper part of the loop on your return for more beautiful views of the falls.

WalkingGreat!

Did this hike end of July. Weather was great. Trail was quieter than expected with a few people here and there (it was a Wednesday though). The trail back had a shortcut with a pretty vertical set of “stairs” along the creek. Definitely worth it!

Between easy and moderate. The moderate is on the return route on the one-way steep steps. Beautiful cascading waterfalls as you are climbing the steps.

Such a beautiful hike, make sure to veer left of the fork (follow one ways signs) because you don’t want to miss that view on the top there. Makes the walk down to the waterfall much better. Feels a lot longer than listed mileage, but I’m also a bit out of shape. ENJOY THIS ONE!

Really fun. Take the steps back on the left that run all the way with the creek. They are the best part of the hike.

Beautiful! A bit crowded (I went around 3pm) and partially shaded. Definitely recommend going the steeper route on your way back to get a different view of the waterfall!

Great trail! So beautiful. The descent down the trail was a little hard because it was rocky and slippery dirt at times so you definitely have to take your time. The falls are beautiful. Good look out points! People were climbing down to the bottom but I was too nervous. The hike back I walked up the “steep narrow stairs” back and it was worth it completely. You can go back the same way you come or take this one way trail back. So beautiful and I think it was a better way than the original way you go. It was a beautiful hike overall and 100% worth it.

Pretty waterfall. I recommend taking a few extra steps down to the bottom of the falls. Climbing back up was really easy with plenty of handholds and footholds on the rocks. Refreshing to say the least.

I went on this trail with my sister and we were fighting on the hike the whole time LOL. This hike was intense for many reasons, but eventually made it out and we came out the other side laughing together lol. It was a highlight experience of my trip. I am a new hiker and it was challenging for me but I was proud that I made it through. The hike is challenging because after you walk through the meadows and take a lil photo on this lookout point, you’ll reach a steep rocky decline to get to the falls. This is very steep. I didn’t like slide too much or anything, but I knew it was going to be tough coming up. Once you pass this loose rocky zone, you’ll have 15 min of more walking until you reach the falls. There are viewing platforms and some people climbed down the falls to the base but I was stressed about the way back up, sigh! And felt too stressed to even enjoy the view lol. The people: The trail itself was very crowded and nearly no one was wearing masks. We went at peak hiking time at 12pm so it was really crowded.

Absolutely beautiful hike all around. Follow the posted signs and you should have no issues. There are a one-way steps that you climb back up which may be a challenge but overall worth it!

Went on a Saturday so ended up parking at least a half mile from the trail-head (there is not a parking lot for it). Can be somewhat confusing but trust the posted signs. You'll loop away from Kings Creek and then work your way back. The falls are gorgeous and you can climb down to the bottom (carefully, it is steep and there are pebbles on the larger rocks). Leaving the falls and coming up the one-way steps trail right next to the river was nice scenery (and good cardio) and you also save time, so winning all around.

This trail was well worth it. Not only do you get the waterfall at the end, you get some lovely views along the way. The best part was taking a “short cut” on the return. When you are walking back from the main falls, at about 1/4 mile in, you will see a sign giving you the option to continue on the same trail you already took by going right or taking some steep stairs (as described on the sign) to the left and shaving off .5 mile. I was a little concerned about how steep the stairs would be with our kids in tow but my husband insisted we go back a different way. I’m so glad we did. You are going by waterfalls the entire time. It was gorgeous. The stairs are well-maintained and felt safe. The return along the stairs was actually my favorite part of the whole hike. So definitely take the “shortcut”!

The best views were along the waterfall/cascade, which were in the latter half of the trail. The trek to the falls was a bit hard for us with a baby strapped to one of us-- steep slopes and loose gravel made it a little dangerous. Wear sturdy shoes! Definitely take the short route back along the cascade-- the view is just amazing!

Loved this trail. The waterfall itself is so gorgeous. On the way back there is another way where you can cut off almost a mile, we didn’t know that and were hiking back up through rocky trail, but anyways it was a good workout. Definitely go to this hike while in Lassen Park

Really nice hike. Crossed the stream in several places, lush green fields along parts of the trail and nice views in other sections. Make sure on the way back to take the one way up hill section along the upper part of the falls.
