Juniper Campground To Moses Rock is a 1.3 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Diablo, California that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
Lovely cool day, some clouds but great views nevertheless. Saw a colorful piglet (think classic white-black dairy cow coat) and a number of wildflowers in yellow and blue. Took side walks to peak views from beginning (if going clockwise) and after the ascent (actual summit is INSIDE the Visitor Center on top floor). Return loop is varied and heavy fog cloud rolling in added dramatic effect to the steep, rocky north-facing slopes. Felt like we journeyed through many different worlds (or biomes). $10 day pass to drive up to trailhead — on this day, it was cash only but apparently they usually take plastic. Snacks and potable water available at Summit Visitor’s Center.
