Great hike. Solid uphill climb for 1000 ft and then a steady descent.

All Trail App said 3.7 miles we did 5.5 and I see most people average over 4 miles just assume 5+ if you plan on doing extra credit to the beacon totally worth it. flowers on the back were very nice!

Lovely in the spring. Lots of wildflowers great views and not too hot. Do the climb first, it is straight up.

Great hike, amazing views. Brought a first timer hiking and they had a blast. Definitely stopped a few times to catch their breath and take in the views but a very doable hike for beginners.

Took this trail to help train for the Tahoe rim. Hiked it with 40lbs on my back. My experience on the trail was great. Met some nice people. The highway is close to you at a lot of points in the trail. Wasn’t crazy about that but overall it was fun. Rangers were dicks though

This was one of the toughest trails we’ve done in a while but it is very scenic and beautiful with time to thousand 2566 feet to the summit.

The first mile up is more like moderate plus. After that, quite easy. Great views. A great introduction to hiking on Mt Diablo. Lots of poison oak along the lower trail sections.

as others have said, do the hike up the Juniper trail first (clockwise on the loop). The climb to the lower summit has more shade on that side for the ca. 1000 foot climb this hike starts off with. The summit trail is 99.9% unshaded and was much better for the walk down the mountain. The benefits of an exposed trail is that the view is incredible.

Completed this on a cloudy weekday, so the trail was pretty empty. Excellent mix of views, beautiful green rolling hills after the rains, clear views from the summit. Great trail for a low traffic day - probably would not want to attempt during a weekday in the summer. Note - there's $10 entrance fee to the park.

This was a great mix of sun and shade—mostly sun—and it’s a well maintained trail. I’d recommend going up the summit first, as it’s the steepest part of the loop. Lots of wildlife and not too busy, even on a gorgeous day. If parking is limited you can always park up at the summit in the giant parking lot and hike down. Gorgeous views everywhere!

Written by my awesome 6 year old: “mount Diablo was great. It was very high. A lot of falling in the process. My favorite thing was the nature. Like an animal. For example, a bird. It was a really good hike. I think you might love it.”

Didn't plan on this trail but we ended up here. So glad we did! Hard incline at first, but worth it when we got to the lighthouse at the top. So beautiful. Air was fresh, weather was cool. They scenery absolutely gorgeous.

Trail was a great length for the evening. Elevation change was just right for a workout and the views and sunset were perfect. Would definitely do this one again.

Nice short trail added to our Grand Loop hike. It was great weather and everything is still green and blooming. Watch for poison Oak and tickets. My tracks are weak due to my driod acting up.

This was an easy to moderate hike with some incline, but overall not too strenuous and accessible for most hikers and ability levels. There is parking at the trailhead, and the path is clearly marked. I’d recommend including a visit to the summit and visitor center once you’re up there. There is an observation deck that offers great views and a small museum. It was chilly and windy when I ascended mid April but much of the trail is in sun so it evened out temperature wise. Spring seemed like a nice time to do the climb as everything was very green and scenic. FYI there is a fee to enter Mt Diablo State Park so be prepared for that.
