NOT an easy trail to find unless you know where to look or where you are going. That said, from the locked gate, the hike is probably closer to 1.5 miles in and 1.5 out. The first part - along the fire road - is easy. At the end begins the climb up to 9115' and the fire lookout tower - and some of the best views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains in existence. 360º views and just pure awesomeness. Great overlook from almost any point here. There was still some snow up here and the Tower itself was closed for maintenance, but don't let that deter you from photographing the views and taking a nice breather.

We went several times trail running. Started at Sequoia Crest then up 6 miles to Jordan Peak Lookout and 6 miles back. Beautiful and well worth the difficulty!
