Great trail, easy and short. Lots of cloud coverage in the morning but it starts to breakup around 11:30. But does depend on the weather. Lots of poison oak so stay on trail!

THE VIEW! You won’t find much else like it. Super fun trail! Nice to get out of the city. It wasn’t too difficult at all, just a decent amount uphill. Stay on the trail however because of poison oak. The trails were well maintained however they weren’t marked exactly as they are on this app but all the trails loop back to the parking lot. We didn’t follow this trail exactly but was still great! Bathrooms were open too and there was a cute bucket of water with a sign saying it was for the wild animals.

We did a short hike here 2 days after the Monterey Bay Half Marathon. The paths were well kept, the elevation change was minimal, the sweeping valley views breathtaking and we had sure footing the whole route (Skyline Loop)! Self pay $2/person for day use. Parking lot with restrooms and picnic area at the end of the road leading to Skyline Loop Trail. Many trails intersect the area making it easy to do 4+ miles. Dogs on leashes allowed. Horses permitted on most trails.

Good incline. Lake at bottom looks like the size of your palm looking down from peak. Good "first" mountain (technically, a hill below 2,000 metres) hike. Can take dog with, leashed. Good tree coverage.

Nice quiet park away from the touristy spots of Monterey. Only a handful of people there at noon on a Sunday. Skyline trail is easy and short with several nice views of the bay. If going primarily for the view and photos, go on sunny day. We combined Skyline and Iris/Rhus trail loops for total 2.8 miles. Paid $4 entrance fee ($2 per person).

We did this trail (and a bit of some others in this park) when we had about 90 minutes to kill in Monterey. This is why I love AllTrails -- this trail is freaking gorgeous and I never would have found this place otherwise. It's a beautiful walk along a pine-forested ridgeline where you can watch the mist blow below. Wish we could have stayed longer here and done more hikes. Park is also horse-friendly, if you're into that.
