Be inspired to swap the Tunnel View crowds for a serene way to experience Yosemite's signature vista. If the Tunnel View crowds are getting between you and one of Yosemite's most famous viewpoints, consider the short hike up to Inspiration Point where you can admire this signature Yosemite Valley scene on your lonesome. Before the 1930s construction of the Wawona Tunnel and the adjacent parking area, this road heading out of Yosemite Valley snaked precariously up and down the hillside. Now overgrown with manzanita and new pines, Inspiration Point is the former parking spot located on the old road.

Hiked this trail up past Inspiration Point up to Dewey Point since Glacier Point Rd was closed. Hard hike but so worth it! The lower parts of the trail are slightly washed out. Also, be careful if windy as there are a lot of dead trees. We had one come down near us!

Good short hike to get a better view of the tunnel view. Even more beautiful at sunset!

Narrow, rocky trail that doesn't seem to provide a much better view than Tunnel View. Primary benefit would be to avoid the mayhem of Tunnel View for a slightly better one but with way less people, we were the only ones on the trail around 4PM.

So the maps may say this is 2.3 miles round trip but it definitely felt longer than that. The view may be similar to Tunnel View but the real reward is having it all to yourself. Bring a lunch and sit at the clearing and take it all in. I was lucky enough to catch storm clouds rolling in and a rainbow develop across the valley. Made for quite a nice photo.

Trail is steep and rocky. I'm glad I had hiking boots on, but I saw plenty of people in tennis shoes. The trail is hard to distinguish at times, especially at the top. If I hadn't had this app I might not have found the viewpoint. Amazing views along the way and at the top. Light traffic compared to other areas of the park. We parked across from the Tunnel View parking lot to access the trailhead.

Just hiked in April; beautiful hike from the Wanona Road area. Can be tricky to find the right trail but once you find it, smooth sailing. Incline isn't bad but adds up over time. Prepare to sweat. The view is pretty spectacular especially if you are a newbie to hiking like myself.

Although the it says "accessible year round" this hike gets REALLY icy in the winter. Wouldn't suggest hiking unless you are well equipped. In my opinion, the view from inspiration point, though pretty, can be better seen from the wawona tunnel lookout.

The trailhead is across the parking lot from Tunnel View at Yosemite, and pretty much goes up 1,000 feet in 1 mile. It is a good workout, a rocky trail through pines and granite outcroppings, and gets you away from the Tunnel View crowds - the key advantage of this trail. The views at the top are not any better than some along the way, as it appears to be an old campsite that has become overgrown. The trail up has a few great views, and you don't really need to go past the 0.6 mi. intersection.... you don't reach the top of the ridge on the Pohono Trail until after the 1.3 mile point - the goal is to just find an unobscured view to get your best picture. This was our first hike and used it as a warmup for North Dome and Yosemite Falls. Best time to climb is during a late afternoon when the valley "pops."

Nice meandering trek in and out of tree coverage out to a pretty view from the South Rim of Yosemite Valley. Lots of opportunity for off trail exploring and testing of route finding abilities.
