We were looking for a great trail to watch the sunrise - this is it! We were hoping for a slightly more challenging hike, but since it rained a lot the previous few days, we decided to take this trail. Perfect. No mud on the pavement, great in wet conditions. 1.5 hours there and back before work. Such amazing views everywhere... Be careful going off-trail, though - poison ivy all over the place!

This trail takes you from the Inspiration Point staging area to Wildcat Peak and back. Nimitz trail is paved, which is great for bikers or walkers, but not really my preference for hiking. You'll go through a variety of vegetation and trees. After the half-way point, you'll get off Nimitz and onto some real trails. At this point, you're in the Tilden Nature Area, where dogs are not allowed. Bikes are also not allowed once you get off Nimitz Way.

Pretty trail through gentle rolling hills. There's a core loop that's good for biking since it's paved, and some offshoot trails that are slightly steeper and are rich in wildlife. We saw lots of rabbits, quails, gophers, lizards, and a falcon.
