It wasn’t very crowded and the hike itself was a little challenging. Shade is sparse but once up there it’s a wonderful view. We just ignored the Private Property signs and remained respectful to the neighbors. Don’t believe anyone that tells you you can’t hike up. It’s open. Just be respectful.

Great views of the Hollywood sign, less crowded than many of the other trails that offer views. Just remember to be respectful of the residents and the parking restrictions at the trailhead! Let's try to keep it open. :-)

A fun hike for gorgeous views of iconic Hollywood sign, the reservoir, and city below. All wide diet path or paved. There is no private property on this hike if you follow the trail. A bit tricky to see exactly where to go in parts, but use the app and the street if needed. Take lots of water because it’s hot. 2 hours out and back at a very leisurely pace.

Wide and mostly paved trail. Great views of the Hollywood sign and basically all of Los Angeles. Not much shade so it can get a bit warm hiking up. Well worth the hike!

This trail specifically says that no hiking is allowed after a certain point, you can not do this hike without trespassing

Great hike with amazing views of the city. Fairly flat, gets steeper as you get closer to sign. Somewhat busy on weekend. But overall very enjoyable.

Shortest hike we could find to the Hollywood sign. Not a hard hike at all, but fun to walk and talk then take a few pictures at some of the lookout points on the way.

I think this is the shortest trail to the Hollywood sign, but I’m not a local. I got to the trail head at 7:30 am on Wednesday, July 4th, and there was parking right in front of the gate. The trail is dirt at first, then some neighborhood streets, dirt again, and then paved road the rest of the way up to the top. There’s a sign halfway through the neighborhood saying “Restricted Entry. No hiking allowed to the Hollywood sign. Violators will be subject to arrest and $103 fine.” A local said that he goes on this trail frequently and we even saw a tour going this way on the way back. I doubt anything ever happens, but it’s at your own risk. Just follow the gps on the all trails app. I recommend going as early as we did if not earlier, because it started to get hot on our way down and the trail gets crowded. You get lots of good views of the Hollywood sign as soon as you hit the trail. Time: 2 hours Distance: 4.59 miles Elevation gain: 826 feet Total Calories: 496 Cal

Through some neighborhoods for a small part of it. Great for running. Good elevation change and a decent workout.

This is one of the shortest ways to get to the Hollywood Sign, but otherwise there's nothing too outstanding about this route.

The trailhead is no longer off of Hollyridge drive. For the driving directions, once you reach the intersection at Hollyridge and Beachwood, continue on Beachwood about 1/10 of a mile, and you'll find parking at the trailhead on the right hand side. It's an excellent short hike, fairly crowded on a Sunday, with LOTS of horse and dog poop laying about (why is horse poop OK but dog poop isn't? I don't get this...) Anyway: don't miss the quick left turn switchback at 0.5 miles, otherwise you'll completely miss the Hollywood sign. Great short hike to get the blood pumping.
