This was an amazing trail! So much fun once you get into the vegetation! Highly recommended.

This is fast becoming one of my favorite hikes. It’s absolutely beautiful. Mostly in the woods in the shade. Lots of vegetation, flowed and critters. Also very quiet, you can hear virtually no traffic. It’s pretty overgrown in places so I strongly recommend long pants. It’s rated as heavily trafficked but I’ve seen very few people the times I’ve been there.

Beautiful trail the entire way through! You have the serene green trees and then the blue ocean in the distance. The path is a little overgrown but nothing unmanageable at all!! Relatively easy hike and well worth it!

Wildflowers in bloom. Lots of wild rabbits and birds. Watch out for poison oak. Great single track with no people if you get there really early

Hiked from Trippet to Lois Ewen overlook. Most of it was the Backbone Trail (hike leader went off trail briefly). Good views and scenery. Still some water in some creeks.

One of my favorite trails. Can’t wait to do it again sometime. 3.5 hours of great hiking. You can stop short of the end where the view is fantastic, there is only a driving road after that. The return to Topanga was really fast.

This trail kicked my butt unexpectedly. It’s pretty over grown in parts but overall a good hike. It had recently rained so the trail was muddy at the bottom of the canyon.

Nice trail through the canyon. The end is a little abrupt up top - but then you can continue to the Topanga lookout .08 to the right, which is pretty! Coming back is a breeze. Really nice hike, although a little muddy at the bottom after Thursday’s rain.

Great trail with varied terrain. Poles not needed. Connected this trail with the Musch trail and what a great day!

As stated in a previous review the trail is about 8.4 mile to 9. It’s nicely shaded for the most part and will have you on a nice up hill climb. If you follow the trail guide it will take you past hondo trail onto the fossil ridge trail. Not a scenic train it a nice climb with views of the old microwave tower and some views over looking the ocean.

It was a hot day but the trail is mostly shaded so it was fine. I recorded this as 9 miles like previous reviewers, therefore the length needs to be updated by AllTrails. There is a photo spot marked on the map in the beginning of the trail that you must check out. It’s a big rock overlooking a canyon and lovely Mountain View’s. The trail is diverse. Some parts are pretty rugged/rocky but nothing too crazy. It’s not the prettiest trail in general and parts are somewhat overgrown. It just seems well trafficked and worn down at times. I wore pants and glad I did. However, I would still highly recommend doing it, I just don’t know if I’ll be back unless I’m taking someone who hasn’t been. It’s a solid workout and it has a couple unique spots worth seeing. It took me about 3.5 hours.

Really beautiful and full of all kinds of nature. Be careful with poison ivy and overgrown plants, pants recommended. Very fulfilling and nurturing. Enjoy

Pleasantly shady for much of the walk. If you go, wear pants: there’s lots of stinging nettles and poison oak.

(4/25) Perfect mix of sun and shade. Underfoot there is a lot of poison ivy, thistle, and lizards. Long pants highly advised. Above that, bugs, wildflowers, rocks, fossils, and overgrowth. Overhead you’ll see and hear birds, squirrels, and see lovely shade-giving oak canopies.
