Hidden Falls Trail is a 1.9 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Johnsondale, California that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
The road to the campground and trailhead was closed. We walked down the road from the Shake camp, then took the hike up to the falls. My step counter says that we hiked a total of 9.9 miles. The trailhead and trail wasn't well marked, but we followed the AllTrails map. The falls at the end of the hike were not very impressive, but it was still beautiful and serene. Some holes were probably big enough to swim in, but the water was too cold for us. On the hike, we saw enormous sequoia trees, many birds, and fish. If you walk above the falls, there's a beautiful grove of sequoia trees. There are open bathrooms and potable water at the campground but bring your own TP. The hike was pretty gruling with the road closure. I recommend the near by loop to see the Adam tree near the Shake campground if the road is closed and you are not an advanced hiker.
It might be a good trail but I was unable to hike on it. The road to hidden Falls was closed right past the PAC station. Instead me and my two young boys Hight the 2 mile loop to the Adam tree and Indian Bathtubs. The trail head for that is located right before Shake camp. It was a beautiful hike and easy
The gate was closed, so we had to walk extra 2.5 miles to the campground/trailhead. The trail was well marked and easy to follow. We had the whole place to ourselves.
Started our walk from Balch Park Road, due to Covid gates were closed off to vehicle access. Approximately 5.5 miles to Hidden Falls. Follow driving path to falls. Weather was perfect, water is running and cold but beautiful areas .
