Nice easy walk up to the Maze Stone, good for introducing hiking to the kids, lots of big rocks for the kids to climb on. More trails leading up and around the surrounding hills should you be looking for a bit more. This was my daughters 1st hike. I think she liked packing her backpack the most to get ready for the adventure!

Reach this trail via a scenic drive on California Ave. through the lovely Reinhardt Canyon in the Lakeview Mts. near Hemet. Park at the gate and walk about a very easy half mile up what remains of the paved road to see large, ancient petroglyph in a style very atypical for California petroglyphs. Due to vandalism sometime after the 1930s two rows of barbed wire-topped chain link fence now protect this monument from further desecration. It's a popular dog walking area and I also saw lots of birds. The area is a 5.75 acre county park and though you're supposed to stay on the trail/road the urge to poke around in the rocks and bush is irresistible. If you're interested in archaeology, Native American history and culture, or are a local looking for a nice dog walk, this is a must see. If you're really up for hiking though it might not be worth the drive.

My littles loved it. Nothing too bad for them - however we did take the trails passed the rock. Good times.

Short but fun. Plenty of rock scrambling too. Lots or little critters and brush. Watch your step off the pavement to be LNT-friendly. Nice easy hike. I will definitely come back and use this as a quick run/PR type trail. And to scramble more of these rocks with my daughter. :)

It’s a quick hike up to the rock. Not sure it’s worth driving to Hemet unless you are really interested in the stone, plan to do another hike in the area or already headed in the area.

Short but good elevation. It was good excercise and close to me so it's good for a quick little walk with some peace and quiet.

Very short hike. It is a shame the petroglyph is surrounded by fence. It is hard to get a good photo.
