Moderate to difficult trail along the south fork of the Upper Truckee river. To a great waterfall and view.

We enjoy this trail in the later afternoons on a warm day. It's shady so not too hot. The trail is not a heavily used trail. We did not encounter a single person on trail today. We start at the trailhead off of South Upper Truckee. Since the waterfall was dry, we were able to hike all the way to the top of Echo Summit. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains.

Trail head was kind of hard to find, steep in places. We were the only ones on the trail so the hike was peaceful. We hiked to the first waterfall and turned around. You can hear traffic from the highway for the entire hike.

was a decent hike. my wife and I made it halfway and turned back at the waterfall you have to cross in order to continue the rest of the way. beautiful views of Lake Tahoe in the distance and the other side of the ravine.

Went out there on 6/30 and it was absolutely gorgeous. The falls were still flowing pretty good and didn’t fully feel comfortable crossing it, but other people were able to. Will definitely be going back to finish it out.

Nice trail. Well maintained. Lots of water and a bit of snow. Could not get past the falls so we didn't get to enjoy the view from the summit. Will go back. Probably a good hike on a hot day as it is very well forested. Checked around at the beaver ponds near the trailhead but didn't see any beavers, just lots of evidence like dams and cut trees.

Gorgeous waterfall but got lost on the way back, went off trail and got lyme. My fault for getting lost and not backtracking immediately. Still recommend the trail though! Majestic mountainside trail n waterfall.

Short hike, not bad on return trip up hill. It looks steep on the map but the side hill really makes it easy. Trail is well traveled.

My friends and I had a great time on this hike! We wanted a moderately challenging hike and this one delivered. Unfortunately the waterfall on the actual hike dried up, but if you go left at the trailhead there is a short walk to another fall that we did on the way back. Great views along the way. PS follow the directions that the previous reviewer gave! The trailhead is not where the app says.

I thought this was a great trail in the valley. Beautiful drive out, not very far from the town but quickly out in the wilderness. The climb up out of the valley is significant, but over a long enough distance that it is never strenuous. The 6 and 8 year old girls we had with us handled it just fine! And the highlight is definitely the waterfall. About a mile in the path actually crosses the waterfall and you have to take your shoes off (at least at this time of year) to cross. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the sun, the views and the waterfall! Oh, and since the trailhead is not quite where this site lists it, below are the directions I used: Turn off 50 to go 3.25 miles south on S Upper Truckee to where it curves left to bridge the Upper Truckee river (if you cross the bridge, you have gone too far). Immediately before the bridge, turn right on road 1110 and take short spur past Bridge Tract homes almost to its end. Find parking space for 2-3 vehicles about 50 yards before the end. Trailhead is just ahead.
