Reviewing this trail for the second time. Ran this loop the first time during winter and hiked it the second time in the middle of summer. During the warm months this trail gets hot. There is little shade in Wildcat Canyon so bring plenty of water. This portion can also get a bit buggy due to the cattle. If you are allergic to poison oak I would not recommend hiking this trail. If you are worried about getting poison oak I would still hike this trail. The East Bay Regional Park district keeps it very well maintained and you will not get it if you stay on the trail - just keep an eye out if you're concerned. Great views of Tilden Park, Mount Tam and Mount Diablo. Really beautiful winding trails as you make your way through Tilden Park back to the Little Farm parking lot. There is a water fountain and bathrooms toward the beginning of the loop. Definitely a great morning or afternoon hike or trail run. Bring your camera.

Trail was closed. But we found out this only after 1-hour walking on a very muddy road. We had no options but to go back using the same awful road. There was no sing at the beginning of the road.

Spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Reservoir. Lots of wildlife - coyotes, turkeys, cows. Ran the loop after it rained so pretty muddy but trails are very maintained and easy to navigate. Definitely some good inclines but the views are worth it and always fun to watch the cows. Make sure the cattle gates lock when you walk through. Also be mindful as you cross a couple of streams. Parking fills up fast on weekends.
