Haskell Canyon Open Space is a 2.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Canyon Country, California that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Free parking. Definitely recommend starting the trail counterclockwise and getting that hill done and over with because coming down it from the opposite way is really rough if you have knee problems/injuries. Great hike but don't consider this an easy trail due to all the steep inclines.
I hiked this twice yesterday. The first time I entered at the main entrance to the left and took the counter-clockwise route. The second time I took the entrance slightly further down copper hill and took a similarly short but steep route up to the ridge. Both ways are nice. I think the main entrance counter-clockwise route (as most suggested) is better. For those who haven't been here, the first half is a steep climb up a ridgeline. From there you meet up with a road that curves around the outer edge of the canyon. At about the mid point in the curve, the trail cuts left into the canyon and snakes its way along the bottom of a twisting gully with mountain bike tracks crisscrossing all the way down. This is a cool and somewhat unique trail although very short at only 2.1 miles. Don't count on shade here. Its very exposed. from the top, you get 360 degree views of Santa Clarita.
It was a lot of fun and a gorgeous view. Be warned it does get a bit steep!!!
It was pretty quiet there’s not much here to do except climb and look at the sunrise
Great trail & easy to find Trail kind of nice for once. Not easy at parts starts with a lot of steep hill
Definitely recommend doing it counterclockwise! Much better work out, allows you to get all the uphill out of the way.
Easy to follow but don’t know if I’d call it an easy hike . We did it clockwise with a long drawn out incline and steep descent to the parking lot. Might reverse that if we do it again. Did some geocaching along the way! Almost no shade and we started to late for a very warm November day.
It was really nice today day after election day and it was pretty quiet not much wind and we had another pretty sunrise
Steep incline at first but beautiful views. Nice in the morning but would be too hot with no shade if in the summer or afternoon.
Clean trail. No shade. Can be a little confusing with so many trails.
I would recommend this hike I came with my 2 kids 12 and 10. Great and easy
This was an overall easy 2.2 hike with no shade. Bikers on trail and we ran into a rattlesnake at one point. Start early.
