HikingFeeGreat!

Great short walk to Hanging Rock with amazing views of Moro Rock. Limited parking at the trailhead, but much much less crowded than Moro Rock.

Great view, short hike, and much less crowded than Moro Rock. Not for those with a fear of heights/ledges.

HikingGreat!

Nice short trek to a great view of Hanging Rock and Moro Rock. Definitely have to hang from the rock but be careful as there is some loose gravel on the larger rock footing making it a little slippery.

Easy trail. The hanging rock is pretty cool. Air quality wasn't great when we were here so the view wasn't as grandiose.

Awesome easy trail. You can actually park right at the beginning and it’s only 0.1 mile to the top.

Easy little walk. Made my kid hold my hand at rock, steep drop off. Only regret is I forgot my camera

Google maps will tell you this is open and you can get there by making a 3hr trip around the Three Rivers entrance to Sequoia and going up through the Pinehurst area. all the signs in Kings Canyon and Sequoia will say that the park is available for drive through only. No pull offs. This is not the case, the Road is Closed Right after the entrance to the Montecito Lodge near the NordicSki Trailhead. The Park Rangers said the road used to be open for drive though during the park closure because of the Pandemic but due to people not adhering to the guidelines and camping and leaving trash behind, they closed the Road. They are planning to reopen the Road on June 4th, according to the Park Rangers.

Wow!! I've passed this trail many times but finally decided to do it and was glad I did. Short and steep. It has an excellent view of Moro Rock right away. Once you get up to Hanging Rock the view is excellent..but don't stop there..the trail extends a little higher to an electricity station that has even more views. Moro Rock was super crowded on this day...0 people on this trail.

Very easy hike. Sadly I thought you’d be able to get on the rock but you can’t & I was too short to “grab on” to take a hanging picture

Super easy hike with beautiful view. Especially at sunset. Nice alternative to Moro Rock if you're trying to avoid the crowds.

I was fortunate to have the views to myself. Less trafficked than Moro rock, tho I recommend doing both Bc they have different views. This trail is super short, you can see Moro Rock from Hanging Rock. Excellent photo op. Sat and relaxed for a bit there before moving on. (See photo of girl hanging from rock - that’s me hah)

Hiking

Although barely a hike, it is a minor detour off the Giant Forest-Moro Rock Trail. It has a steep ascent but it’s short so not a big deal. The Hanging Rock is great for fun photo ops and amazing views of the foothills and Valley.

Dedicated 0.1 dig to the top but nice little private spot off to the left if your careful of the ledge. Great lunch spot.

Hiking

This was a nice addition to our hike back to the museum from Morro Rock, as that road is currently closed for this trail but you can hike in. That is..on 04/01/17 the road was closed. We saw the sign on our hike back down from Morro Rock and it was only .1 miles from the trail we were on, so we went for it. We went off the trail once, as the trail isn't marked great right now. There was a lot of brush covering the trail, fallen trees, and some snow...but we ended up making it to the top just fine..and we were hiking with a baby! It's a short hike that's worth the 20 minutes round trip out of your way for the amazing view you get. I wouldn't hike in just for this trail, but it was a nice addition to see on our way out. Also, somewhat steep going up, but that could mostly be my jelly legs from hiking Morro Rock before this one.
