HikingGreat!

Really nice hike. Only downfall was that there were too many mountain bikers for my taste. Go super duper early to avoid them as much as possible.

HikingGreat!

Great hike. Beautiful day in December. Assent up the mountain was gradual. If you want to shorten the hike be on the lookout for the turnout trails that can be easily missed. After the first 3 miles not many people on the trail. Lots of mountain bikers.

Longer than just 12.4 when considering where you are parking. However, overall it was a great hike. Cool things to see, very pretty. There are also a lot of mountain bikers. Would definitely do it again

Parking has changed since the last time I was down on the PCH, you have to park about 1/4 mile before trail head or park in the no parking. Other than that I went counter clockwise wise it was easy but I got mislead by trusting the gps on my Apple Watch it took me on a short cut so I lost a couple miles but I finished it up on the beach. Great trail for better training next time I’ll go clock wise and maybe start on the loop trailhead.

HikingGreat!No shade

this trail is for mountain bikes. the wind and clean road. I saw a lot of people on bikes specially in a beginner , of course less on after 4-5 miles. i would say its a nice mellow trail for a hike, a nice walk . the loop is around 14 miles. No shadow but the nice breeze from the ocean . I have started at 6:30am. I wouldn't consider it as a hard trail for a hike . need to park on the PCH.

I hiked this in the late summer and it was a fairly boring day hike. I think this trail is more suited for a mountain biking. That said, I will give a second chance this spring when the wildflowers come to life. But for now, I will say it is a very average hike for the Santa Monicas.

First to Review

This was an amazing trail at Point Magu State Park. I rode up the mountain right away (about 1300 feet) and had some gorgeous sights along the way. It was gorgeous because the clouds had enveloped the top of the mountain. I rode to the guadalasco. (Most people climbed the mountain through the guadalasco, but it's much more fun to go down the mountain through it.) It is definitely a difficult trail in terms of the rocky road and continuous switchbacks - both of which make the ride more exhilarating. The single-track is not good when it's busy because you have to lose a lot of speed for all the bikers climbing the mountain. My suggestion: go early (at least 7:30am) to enjoy it fully. This was my second mountain bike ride and it really had me love the sport! Enjoy.
