This a a nice quick loop. The old zoo cages were a little freaky and neglected though. Overall nice views.

Second time around. It's really neat place to walk around, explore, interact with, and has many photo ops. there is a lot of broken glass in some of the enclosures. there is shade in sporadic areas. will come back around with some fun costume ideas.

Free parking and the multitude of available paths puts the old zoo trails in a league of its own. It's pretty trails and old zoo enclosures provide plenty of photo ops. Will be returning to explore other routes! Edit: Came back for the third time and enjoyed the warm sunshine and quiet trails!

A great spot for kids and dogs was fun I only did 4 stars because I was looking for the shortest hike to the zoo and this was the one that came up when you can park at the old zoo! I am posting a screen shot of the parking lot location at the old zoo. Some views of the city on the way there and the exhibits are fun to see and go in. Keep in mind it is a small zoo it’s not as big as a modern zoo.

its ok for a hike in the city. Bit crowded, also way to many children screaming their heads off for no reason. Parents bring their kids here because its close, is a super easy hike, and brings out children's imagination with the abandoned zoo aspect. So if you cant stand children like me, then avoid this place or go on a weekday when they are in school. If you dont believe me, read the other reviews. Many say things like "Great for the whole family" and "I brought my four year old..." and "The kids will love it!".

Not a bad trail. Not the best is Griffith either. The old zoo enclosures were really neat. You can go in/on all of them.

This is a good easy trail that takes about 45 minutes if going at a good pace. It’s cool to see all the cages and things from the Old Zoo, but if you’re looking for LA city views this trail isn’t the best. Still really enjoyed it though! Pretty quiet and pretty much all locals. Felt good being able to let my dog off leash the second half of the trail because of how few people were on the trail. Would do again!

The trail was perfect after the rain. No dust and very clean which is unusual for this hike. It looks like the city covered up a ton of the graffitti that usually covers all of the stone enclosures. All in all it was a good day.

Easy nice hike with views then down into the old zoo. Steep first part but then the route we took after was pretty easy. It was done up with decorations for the haunted hayride and I had some trouble explaining dismembered bodies to my 4 year old but it was fun to see during daylight.

Probably one the best easy hikes i've done in a long time. Great for people of all ages in good health. It's dog friendly, there are some shady areas. Enjoy the great views and many picture taking opportunities. Follow the Alltrails route as shown for the easy hike. The trails that branch off are more challenging and go on for longer. We went during Halloween time and got to wonder through Haunted Hayride attraction during the day for an extra creepy experience. I deducted a star for all the dog poop people seem to not pick up and the occasional flying insects. First timers, don't forget to check out the weird Merry-Go-Round. LOL

I was so excited for this trail but bummed how overgrown it was once you were off the old road. Also, this felt moderate to me, again once off the road. I did have a toddler in a back carrier, so I didn’t want to be bushwhacking. But... At one point there was an overgrown trail that went into a metal fence and you could turn sharply right away from the fence, but the map appeared to say move along the fence. You could cut threw and move down either side but one side was very steep and the other side was only accessed while shoving branches away from your face. Again, we were in the right place according to the map, but sketchy. It does appear from google maps I reviewed when I got home that the rest of the trail is open and easier, so I’m headed back soon.
