This trail begins at the Griffith Park Visitor Center and heads up a gravel fire road and follows a wide single track that climb and drop down a number of steep ridges. The trail intersects and follows an asphalt road that leads to the very top of Griffith Park, right above the Hollywood sign. Be aware of hot weather as there is little to no shade on this hike. Bring water, and hike early or late in the day, if possible. The views are worth it!

Less a trail and more a network of coyote game trails intersecting dry fire roads. Great views of the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, and on the other side Downtown L.A. and Hollywood. The extended path to the Wisdom Tree from the Hollywood sign has a significant bouldering section that you have to crawl up and down. Watch out for coyotes. They’re the size of German Shepherds and they don’t run away when you yell at them. I had to pick up a rock and backtrack and one point because two turned on me and started coming back up the trail. It’s a crowded hike however, so you’ll never be far from other people.

Great trail! Awesome view at the top and many different areas with scenic views as you make your way up. Different routes can make this hike shorter or as long as you want. Good trail for beginners.

We followed the 8.7 mile trail loop exactly as per map. The description is a little misleading in that there are a number of off-fire road excursions onto narrow, rough and brushy tracks. You have to keep a very close eye on the map because these tracks are often kind of hidden or just not obvious. Had to backtrack a couple of times. That said, it was a nice hike across Griffith Park, especially at the start when you climb up to the top ridge. The trail ends up behind the Hollywood sign, which is a little anticlimactic, before you turn back and take a slightly different route back.

Great hike.My Wife and I are in pretty good shape and got in a seriously good work out. Saw Hollywood sign from top and bottom. Both incredible views. Bring plenty of water. The water spouts along the way were not working, they look like old pipes that are probably unreliable. There are an incredible amount of intersections on this trail. There is even a 5 point intersection.I used my all trails pro gps app and just tracked ourselves and checked at various points along the way.Its a good thing I did because some trails do not reconnect with each other and you will end up in a different area of the park! No shade but amazing breeze.Plenty of free parking.

re: the wording "future Los Angeles River Bike Path" is incorrect. That is an equestrian trail and bicycles are not allowed in any manner, way or form - riding, pushing, carrying: NO BIKES ALLOWED. Please fix your map.

My first time on this trail. Was able to go to the front of the a Hollywood sign and then took the trail to behind the sign 1 additional mile loop.Could see the Hollywood reservoir. Nice views of the Griffith observatory . Great city skyline views.

Amazing view! Parking fee is a bit outrageous, but worth the hike once you get to see the Hollywood sign up close. Watch out for horse poop.

Hiked 11 miles here ! We started by the merry go round on the Glendale side. Went to the back and front of the sign. Did get a little lost on the way back but we followed the paved roads back to the Glendale side of Griffith park. Where we parked by LA zoo. I suggest parking on the opposite end of the park if you don’t want to hike over 8 miles lol. Please bring food. There are lots of water fountains but still bring your own. We hiked up the difficult way that isn’t really marked but it was kind of like rock climbing and it was fun! This is an ALL DAY hike. Clear your day. We were there from 11am-sundown at 5:30pm. Bring battery packs for your phone, there’s a lot of cell service on this mountain which was cool. We saw a lot of dummies tho. People starting this hike at 4pm and 5pm with small children. It was just stupid, really really reallyyy stupid. This IS NOT and easy hike , no joke this was intense, please don’t make your small children endure this, especially at night ! Like WTF!

Great hike to the Hollywood sign. Definitely will get a great work out as most of the trail is uphill. Since the park is very large with many small trials, I advise to keeping your map open as much as possible. We took many detours and was mostly guided by local hikers who knew the park. The views are incredible, from Burbank, Glendale, Santa Monica, and LA. Great hike!

Great view points, including both valleys.(If not foggy or smoggy) this trails makes you work and earn them, especially if coming from more difficult Hollywood Lake side! about 10 miles to Griffith observatory and back, including amazing Memorial Flag post after Hollywood sign. Great sense of accomplishment. #hikershigh
