Trail was well marked, and I barely saw anyone on the trail (I did it after 4th of July to avoid crowds). For about 2/3 of the trail it’s a gradual incline and only gets steep when you’re at the last mile of the creek. There are parts that are muddy from the creek, but it’s not too bad. There are bugs where it’s muddy, so bring bug spray. Coming back from the creek it tells you to go right, but that takes you through a lodge for reservation cabins, I suggest going left on the same path you came up from. Also, the trail was more than 6.7 miles, but I’m not mad about that, the views were worth it.

Beautiful! Perfect distance. Perfect difficulty level (for us). Loved the drive to get there! Amazing scenery. We all agreed it was 5 stars!

Enjoyed very much. Mid November perfect weather. Saw no one on trail.

Pretty hike to the lodge. This trail also ends up by the Smith Lake Trailhead, so you can make it into a much longer hike/loop if you wish to head down and around from Smith Lake to the creek trail and back around.

There was no "creek" visible for any part of the NE section that we hiked from the Lodge Road. Very "woodsy" but not much to see.

We hiked the trail to smith lake. Really pretty, shaded and easy trail. The trail is largely dirt so nothing sharp to hurt dog paw pads.
