This is a nice short hike, although I don't know why it is described as a loop. If you want to extend it a little, you should walk through the Jackson Flat campground, which is interesting. If you want to extend it a couple of miles, continue on the PCT until it joins with the road, and than take the road back to the campground. However, be aware that there isn't any shade on the road.
Nice trail shade here and there. Bugs but not to many today. Mid to high 70’s. Must have pass to park. Only about 4-5 cars in the lot.
Very pretty right now with lots of wild flowers. Was still open & only saw 1 other family the whole time. We broke off right before the gate that says private property & walked back along some beautiful oaks & meadows. Highly recommend to go before it gets too hot & brown.
Parked at Grassy Hollow visiters center and hiked the Pacific Crest Trail to the Jackson Lake trail head. at that point there is a short trail to the left that connects to the road back to the visiters center. Very easy hike for kids or the dog.
Great hike with the family! Night hike during a full, harvest moon on Friday the 13th! Led by one of the Grassy Hollow volunteers who did a fantastic job as our guide.
Fantastic hike that parallels the PCT and follows a paved road. Easy accessible from town, this hike is perfect for any age group. The road is mostly flat and offers great views of the surrounding mountains and desert. There is a minor accent just before you reach Jackson Flat campground, but it is not very strenuous. The fire tower at the top of the campground is definitely worth a visit and an ideal place to have lunch. Overall one of my favorite hikes, particularly at night for stargazing with friends. Just make sure you have your adventure pass when you park your vehicle and your good to go.
