HikingGreat!

Awesome trail. We did the hike clockwise (towards red cathedral first). First section was a very mild, gradual incline for the first mile to the red cathedral offshoot. I would recommend the quick detour to the red cathedral- there were some easy rock scrambles and the overlook was great. Next section was pretty steep up on the side of a cliff - was a bit scary since it was a pretty skinny trail on the mountain but definitely doable. And the last part was down in what seemed to be a dried up riverbed - this was a bit monotonous and long, but a nice walk. Would recommend doing right after sunrise. Parking lot fills up fast and there’s not a lot of shade cover so I imagine it would get hot fast.

Great hike. I did the hike counterclockwise. I added two trails off Golden Canyon to my hike. A trail near Manly Beacon out to a point and Red Cathedral. That made my hike 8 miles. It warmed up to 83. There is some scrambling in Red Cathedral and Gower Gulch. Gower Gulch is mostly gravel.

We did this loop clockwise to climb the steep parts. I would recommend this direction as the steep sections would be slippery to come down.

Add the Red Cathedral and Manly Beacon to this hike, and you will have the complete experience of everything the area has to offer.

Great trail! Highly recommend taking the extra one mile up Golden Canyon trail for the cool canyon hike and view.

The All Trails map takes you through closed portions around Zabrowski Point, and the allowed route is much less beautiful. I’d just do the Gower Gultch/Golden Canyon loop instead

We thoroughly enjoyed completing the loop around this enchanting and extremely scenic area! We started out late, went to Red Cathedral then around the loop in the dark. Throughout the entire trail, there was not a bad view. Highly recommended! Enjoy!

Overall, a nice hike. I’m not the biggest fan of hiking on the loose gravel/rock material, which is a fair amount of the hike through the gulch. However, if you don’t mind zigzagging a bit across the trail, there are more solid ground areas to walk on. As a heads up, the trail that is set as the recorded trail on AllTrails goes off of the actual trail for a good chunk at the beginning and end of the loop. It’s also longer than 5.8 miles. I stayed on the marked trail at the end which probably added .2 or .3 miles to my overall distance, but I would guess that this loop is actually about 6.3 miles (about a half mile longer than it says). Anyways, overall a good time ! Some great views.
