This was a very beautiful hike. The path was relatively easy to follow. It definitely felt like you were isolated in nature. I wasn’t surrounded by urban sprawl or houses in the mountains. There were lots of trees with coverage and high bushes, which made it feel like it was an “off the beaten trail” sorta path. The hike wasn’t hard if you’re in average shape. A few steep descents at the end of the trail but nothing that couldn’t be doable with taking a little extra time. The sites were gorgeous and saw almost nobody the entire time.

What a phenomenal hike. It's pretty brutal in places but the views of LA are unmatched.

HikingNo shade

Lots of loose rock, very narrow and over grown bushes that cut up my GF legs. Not worth it. No shade coverage very hot

Depending on loop direction, you’ll face crowds one way and isolation the other direction.

Beautiful vistas throughout. Definitely handy to have this app and map as there are many unnamed intersecting trails. Would recommend a clockwise route.

This hike should be given a hard rating. It requires scrambling and has tons of loose rocks. Especially after rain. This trail isn't maintained so if you get it in a bad condition it's not just difficult, but dangerous. Scorpions spotted a couple times at night (only in summer), and BIG SPIDERS at night. I've only seen a rattlesnake two times on this trail. But use it fairly regularly. So I dunno if that's something to worry about... but I've been extremely cautious as there's a section with tall grass and mice which rattlesnake eat, so... Careful of the Dracaenas plants on the way up, they'll poke you. The scrambling is only near the top so you get all the way there without realizing there's gonna be climbing. The loose sedimentary rocks is continuous pretty much all the way up. On the way up it's manageable, on the way down you will fall (hopefully gracefully) at least once guaranteed. For all the cons, the view is amazing and also not super crowded. But again, not for inexperienced hikers, and definitely not worth it when conditions are bad.

Hiked this trail for the first time yesterday. There was so much loose rock on the steep part that I slipped and twisted my ankle. As I was gingerly descending, a rattlesnake lunged at me. Without the speed to avoid it, I was bitten. Spent the night in the hospital. Heard many other stories of snakes on this trail too. STAY AWAY.
