Getting There

Glen Canyon offers incredible spring wildflower displays, dramatic rock (chert) formations, and Islais Creek, one of the few remaining free-flowing creeks in San Francisco. This 60 acres of wilderness, formerly referred to as the San Miguel Hills, not only provides critical habitat for a wide array of wildlife but serves as a relaxing sanctuary from the city’s urban bustle. An extensive network of hiking trails leads through a variety of habitats.

The park also offers a gymnasium, auditorium, playground, baseball fields, and offices.

There is on-street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. If you're taking public transportation, the 44 bus goes along the western side of the park.

There are wild blackberries that grow along this trail, and the ability to choose your own adventure! Ex. My mom has bad feet, so we kept the trail mostly flat and quite short, but there were plenty of people scaling hills and roaming at high elevation. Can’t wait to do this again when the blackberries are ripe..

We love it. Unfortunately many people have their dogs off leash.

Love this place. Eaay and fun trail with a lot of diverse scenery. Definitely does not feel like you are in the middle of a city. Magical.

It’s a pretty easy hike in a residential area. Lots of people there at all times of the day. Very family friendly environment. The GPS direction took us to a park construction sight. So we had to drive around, and enter the park by the police academy. Overall, decent hike during your easy/rest days.

Little creek that sometimes has water. It's connected to a big open park. Some shaded and green, some rocky. Has a surprising amount of diversity for a city hike and can last awhile

This open space in the middle of SF feels bigger and more remote than it is. Good for families and seeing some nature without leaving the city. Not a strenuous hike. My kid was glad to play at the playground at the end of our hike

Gorgeous hike, especially when foliage is green and in the early morning with the fog!

Gorgeous creek-side trails, but hard to get any real distance in this park workout doing a bunch of loops. Large coyote spotted in the base of the canyon -- keep your dogs on leash!

It was pretty nice! Me and my gf really enjoyed it we went around 5 on a Sunday, medium traffic, we saw people here and there but no biggie everyone was pleasant! Advice don’t follow the GPS on here it takes you to an unknown area, just GPS Glen park and you’ll find street parking. The trails are well labeled and easy to get to. We just decided to follow where we felt like exploring. it was rocky, and pretty cold in the trees then sunny and warm on the stairs. Decent trails it took about an hour.

the playground is very tall in the park. its from the 70s 80s era of tough kids. a little throwback nostalgia i liked but rough for parents with young kids like myself. This was a great little hike we were all over the place.
