Drive to the best view in all of Yosemite. This 270-degree view of the Valley, Half Dome, and 3 Falls will amaze you. Glacier Point is a popular stop for many new visitors to Yosemite National Park on their way down to Yosemite Valley. Although it's not much of a hike, the view at the end of the paved walkway will leave you breathless. You will see (left to right) both Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls, Yosemite Valley below, Clouds Rest, Half Dome standing proud, and even Vernal and Nevada Falls. What more could you ask for? Winter In Winter the road to Glacier Point is closed to cars, but strap on a pair of cross country skis or snowshoes and you should be good to go. If you want to stay overnight, reserve a spot in the Glacier Point Ski Hut where there are bunk beds (dormitory style), a wood fire, food, and good company.

The amazing thing about this area is that so many of the trails connect! I will most definitely be back and do more hiking, but this time around, Yosemite was just a half-day stop. And if you’re doing the same thing, get here early and head to this spot! I’m currently on a huge road trip and this may have been the most amazing sight my eyes have ever seen. Simply spectacular. Additionally, another cool thing is that there is great phone connection so I was able to facetime and share the view with some of my friends and family back home. All that to say, I’d HIGHLY recommend this lookout point of the valley, whether you’re just stopping by the park for a few hours, or hiking some of the trails around it!

We walked the mile long trail from the Taft Trail/Glacier Point Junction. Well worth it!

Simple walk to amazing views! Worth going at sunset as it lights up Half Dome!
Kids loved being able to be free, climb rocks and having flashlights.

Of course the view is amazing. Not sure I would consider that a hike. Be careful of when you go - I went in the afternoon of memorial day, and rangers stopped us for 2 hours to wait before there was enough parking place. I was also back there after a hike for sunset which was great.

Arrive early and you’ll have an easy time parking. Unbelievable views of the valley, waterfalls, and surrounding peaks.

Amazing views, definite must do. Parking lot is a decent size to accommodate the crowds. Kids and hungry hikers loved the snack bar up there, must do!!

The most amazing view I have ever seen! Definitely my favorite spot I've found hiking so far! I miss it like I miss a person. Just breathtaking. 100% recommend.

Amazing view! Probably my favorite overlook. You can see the Valley, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and Vernal and Nevada Falls. Highly recommend for a bird's eye view

Crowds are the only deterrent up here. The views are amazing and really puts the park in perspective of where things are located. It's easy to pick out the visitor center, restaurants, and cabins, as well as all the monoliths now seen from slightly above. This is mainly a lookout point that is accessed by car, but has plenty of space to view the whole valley. Sunset is one of the best times to go!

Such a beautiful view of half dome and the falls across the way. Took awhile to get to and not very much hiking to do there. But it was still crazy pretty and we decided to just go hike on one of the nearby trails. Oh and the geology hut is awesome definitely take a look at that if you're interested in that kind of thing!

Every reason to do it, no excuse not to.

We came here on the last leg of our itinerary, bought ice cream from the shop and watched the view of half dome. Long drive in to get here is only downside .

We took the Glacier Point tour up to Glacier Point to avoid having to climb the Panorama trail. From Glacier Point we descended the Panorama trail to the Mist trail and back Yosemite Valley. Descending this trail was a great way to see the views and not over work yourself.

Absolutely incredible! Breathtaking views of the Yosemite Valley! It's a very crowded area, and there are restrooms and a tiny shop at the location.

Breathtaking views! Panoramic views all around you of the entire valley! Take the tram 30 minutes up to Glacier Point way easier that way instead of trying to find parking off the side of the road. Super crowded at this scenic view but its totally worth it!

Was closed for much of our trip, but finally open. Lots of snow! This is a must see if this is your first time at Yosemite. .6 miles of paved trail to a fabulous view!
This is a VERY popular site. Get there early & you'll still have company. It won't be shoulder to shoulder though.
Restrooms & a store are available.
