Amazing!! Lots of elevation gain. Crampons needed at the top because it was icy/snowy. Definitely worth going all the way to Glacier Point.
Very steady and steep incline majority of the way up. We stopped about every 1K to take pics/a breather. Lots of snow/ice for the second 2/3rds of the way up so definitely need spikes to get to most of it. There is a gate maybe 3 miles up but we just walked around it to continue on. Saw a few other people at the top as well. Amazing views of the valley and Half Dome the entire way up. Not a lot of variety in scenery since you’re walking up the same side of the mountain most of the way, but obviously still amazing sights.
I'd say we are average hikers and it was possible during the strict park hours to finish it! Started at 9:10 and finished at 3:20p with a decent lunch break at Glacier point. Highly recommend shoe spikes and poles for the snowy bits that started around 2 miles in! Loved the views all the way up and at the end. Coming down was slippery and you'll need spikes.
Great trail! Left at 8am and got back around 230. Took a lot of breaks and photos. Gets icy higher up but hiking shoes is all that’s needed.
First time visitors in the winter and we were looking for something that would give us amazing views and access to glaciar point since the road is closed. This is it! Beautiful rewarding sights, but very difficult for beginner hikers in my opinion. The switchbacks and never ending incline is was a big killer, even going down it was difficult. Total time was roughly 6 hours there and back with about a 10 minute stop at the top. If you’re up to a challenge, definitely worth it!!
Amazing trail, completed November 29,2020, no snow, not many people, weather upper 40’s just perfect!
Icy after union point, dirt covers the ice for the most part, tread lightly and you should be fine.
Hiked 11/26 in the am. Good weather. Cold in the morning, but you quickly warm up. Be sure to wear layers.
So damn awesome!! Definitely feels longer than 4.6 miles to glacier point though. Pretty icy up top. Bring snacks and water!
I credible hike! Definitely take into account time for stopping to take pictures, as around every bend is just pure magic. We got to the the top on 11/7 about 10-15min before a major snow storm swept in and created white out conditions. Made for a fun, yet chilling experience. Only wish the top hadn’t been made so touristy, but i understand this brings funding for the parks - catch 22. Overall one of the best hikes we’ve done.
Very nice! Second time doing trail. Great views as usual
Amazing, not that difficult, a lot of fun. My GF and I did it in 5 hours I left the GPS on after the trip and drove for about 2 miles by accident.
Amazing trail! Beautiful views the entire hike. Early November was a perfect time with the color change in the leaves and temperatures of 65 degrees. Views of Half Dome in many areas and a peak at Glacier Point.
