HikingFeeGreat!

The parking is $5.00 and good until they close at 5:00 pm. After starting, we took the North Ridge Trail to the summit of Gilman Peak. It’s a constant gradual ascent to the top. The summit views are decent. The descent begins through rolling hills until down into Telegraph Canyon. Once in the canyon, it’s a mostly flat trek back to the parking lot. Enjoy!

Parked on Santa Fe Rd/Merrifield. Rolling easy hills for 3 miles then steep till the top. Descending is slightly technical and would be more fun if it wasn’t dark. Last mile is “closed”. Got stopped my CHP/ Parks cause it was after sundown and could of got a $300 ticket. The end

Very thick air with the fires but still a nice little adventure. Started later in the morning and only saw a couple other people. Lots of snake tracks, but didn’t see them out.

HikingGreat!No shade

The Telegraph trail that leads to Gilman turn is great. There’s not a lot of incline until the Gilman hike up. But the trail coming back down is closed. According to the Chino Hills park rep, there were a bunch of hill slides and the loop back has been closed.

Very nice trail, but bring a stick. I saw coyotes and other wild life. I was alone and brought a stick. Great for group hikes.

HikingClosedOver grown

As others have noted, the north trail is closed. The best you can do is take telegraph to Gilman and take that up to Gilman peak. The second trail down from Gilman Peak to telegraph is also overgrown and closed. Otherwise a really enjoyable trail! If you don’t mind the mountain bikers.

The trail as shown on the map is closed (as of 5/20/18). You end up doing an out and back up the Telegraph trail. At about 4 miles in there’s a marker on the left for Gilman Peak. Get ready for a climb! Most of the elevation gain is in that last 0.5 miles. Once you get to the top, the views are nice! Definitely do this in the early morning before it gets hot because there is no shade.

First to Review

$5 to park which was good only because we got a map. The northern part of this trail is closed so we had to take a more southern route which was still like 9 miles but not as much elevation.
