This trail is easy to follow and is steep and dusty for the first mile. Then it is a steady uphill through a shady forest. There were many beautiful trees and a creek to follow. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is best to get to the trailhead. If you continue past Gibbs Lake to Kidney Lake, you will have a beautiful view of Mono Lake. To get to Kidney Lake from Gibbs Lake, it will probably be at least another mile.

The first 3/4 mile very steep and dusty. The following 2 1/2 miles are steady uphill climb. Fishing very poor...5 of us fished several hours using dry flies and lures. Lake is fairly pretty but other Sierra day hikes better.

This is a short trail with a lot of elevation gain in the beginning. The trail is hard to follow in some spots but has a beautiful view once you get higher up and great fishing once you get to the lake.
