HikingGreat!

Very well maintained and well marked trail. Super wide and easy terrain throughout. Somewhat crowded, even on a Friday, but beautiful views throughout. Be advised, it’s all up on the way out and all down back in. Neat Easter egg on the summit, a strange installation used for guiding planes!

I like this trail quite a bit. I have done it both ways and each way starts with some elevation that is a nice workout. This is a great trail if you are getting back into shape and want a challenge but not yet ready for something hard yet. The views are pretty of the valleys and small mountains around. There is also a cool very secluded tent only camp site within the trail called Hawk Camp. This trail is great for mountain biking as well.

HikingGreat!

Got lucky yesterday, great trail to catch fresh air from all the smoke in Bay Area. Gentle slope, and no sun worked out well with kids.

Good moderate 6.1 mile loop. Fired road so great for mountain bikers. Went counterclockwise to be able to incline slowly.

Nice hike. Straight uphill the first 2.5 miles and slow downhill for the remainder. Running the trail was nice but tough! Would have preferred to have gone when it was less foggy to get a better view of Sausalito.

Good loop if you're up for some hills - I ran this one and it was great but took a lot out of me!

We went counter clockwise. The first 3 miles were a pretty consistent up hill. Beautiful views of the bay. Not the best hike in the area, but a fantastic workout. Lots of mountain bikers but it didn’t bother us.

This is a good hike, on well maintained fire roads. It was reasonably trafficked on a Saturday with hikers, runners and bikers. If there's no fog, you'll have views of the coastline and also of Sausalito. PG&E is doing some work on power lines (August 2019), and we had to make one detour, but not everyone was complying with the trail closures.

Wonderful hike with many flowers (both native and non-native). Light traffic on a weekday, a few hikers, one equestrian, a number of bikers (not any problem at all). Broad trail (fire road). We went counter-clockwise - the hike down Miwok was a bit hard on the knees, it is the steeper side.

The views are worth it, but lots of mountain bikers on this loop. Every time you might relax, another one comes speeding around the corner. It's a wide trail with plenty of space, so not too bad, but next time we'll pick a trail in this area with no bikes.

Not too crowded for mid-day Sunday. Great hike if you want something quick with great views and a good mix of up hill/down hill. Seems like it’d be great for trail running too.

Great little loop in Marin Headlands fairly close to the city! We started the loop clockwise to get the major incline out of the way, and it was a bit of a glute burner, but the views were just outstanding! Great wildlife viewing as well. Took a little over 2 hours with a few photo stops along the way, LOTS of bikers and other hikers out fairly early, so try to get there at a decent hour for parking. Dogs are allowed on leash but saw plenty off leash during the morning.

Nice wide dirt trail. I completely agree, if you do this route clockwise, the steepest part is within the first 3 miles. However, the reward was getting to the top and looking down into several different valleys.

Went clockwise up the Coastal Trail for a steep 2 mile climb that provides a good workout. Then back down on the Miwok Trail for an easy 4 more miles. Both sides are scenic. Best to hike on a foggy morning - as you hike up from the valley you get above the fog line and the views become dramatic as the fog starts to lift. Hiking time: 2 hrs.

Great hike! We went clockwise and up the steeper incline (over the first 2 miles). Definitely the more aggressive incline but rewarding at the top! It also led to a more leisurely downhill hike for the remaining 4 miles.
