General Grant Loop Trail is a 0.6 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Cedar Grove, California that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until October.
Kings Canyon National Park charges a fee to enter. Fees are $35 per vehicle or $30 per motorcycle. If you are entering on foot or bike the fee is $20 per person. You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $70. This short, family-friendly trail passes by the historic Gamlin Cabin and the General Grant Tree (the world's second-largest tree). Accessibility: According to the park's website, although paved and typically over three feet wide, this trail has some steep sections so is not considered fully wheelchair/mobility equipment or stroller accessible. The steepest section is 6% at about 0.4 miles, by the General Grant Grove of trees. The estimated average grade for the trail is 3%. There are some stairs on a short trail that goes around the Tree (about 0.2 miles in), but that trail can be bypassed. There are benches along this trail for resting. In the parking lot, there is one designated handicapped-accessible parking spot, accessible flush restrooms, and water fountains. There are placards along the trail with raised illustrations and Braille explanations. The entry to the Cabin is a raised threshold so entering is not accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

Very nice and quiet trail. Took a bunch of detours to make it longer. Not as many sequoias as the norther part of the park
Wonderful short hike that is paved and has a very small elevation gain. The whole family will enjoy this hike. There are a number of of huge giant redwoods along the path. There is a fallen tree that is hallow that you can walk through. Kids and adults like doing this, I would try and get here early as this is one of the most if not the most advertised trails of Grant Grove. The road leading down to the trail head is cleared of snow in the winter. The tress are just huge an so inspiring.
East, scenic, nice. A little crowded on weekend. More leisure than exercise.
An absolute must do. History. Views. Giant trees. I took two laps.
Very easy beautiful trail. Not paved. This forest is truly incredible.
Very peaceful and magical when we hiked at the end of golden hour. Not very busy. General Sherman's Grove is definitely more of a "wow" but this is an easier walk. Recommend as a last stop if entering from South Sequoia entrance and working your way up the General's Highway and out the Northwest King's Canyon Entrance.
got here early morning to avoid the traffic. it's a beautiful peaceful walk, would recommend to bring bug stray.
Paved short walk around the Grant tree - amazing to be surrounded by such giants
Heavily populated but very gorgeous. The General Grant tree is marvelous. Well paved and easy to navigate. Some gnats but overall a very enjoyable stroll.
The big trees are why everybody comes, and for good reason. Easy paved path highlights some huge trees including one you can walk through. WARNING - we first came on the weekend, and it was wall to wall people and we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We came back on Monday and it was quite enjoyable.
Great views of big trees! Paved easy and Grant is truly impressive. Stop to read the signs that go along with some of the sights they are very interesting
