Overall a nice, easy trail but I found it to be fairly dull compared to some other hikes in the area.

For those who want more challenge, and more elevation gain=views, you can turn LEFT at the fork to Lily pond, and try to get to Lost Lake. I didn’t make it; the trail becomes difficult and I hadn’t planned on that. So the lake remains lost. But there is some bouldering and a fine view up the General Creek canyon, rocky cliff faces, granite batholith, and a small pool in a crevice in which one can take a shockingly cold dip.

We had a nice walk and decided to go to Lily Lake which was very sweet and lily pad covered lake beyond the trail. Just a little steep climb to the lake. We were looking for an easy day and this was perfect. The main trail is flat and would be family and stroller friendly.

My recording is the 2nd approach described in Dave Hatchett’s West Shore Bouldering Guidebook (2nd edition) to Sugar Pine 1. Recording ends at the first boulder in the circuit.

Husband and I hiked this trail today. the terrain is soft and easy to navigate. no major immediate elevation changes. they were gradual. Lily pond is nice, although the only good view of it is from the absolute end of the trail. Water in the pond was an obstructed view the whole time.

Beautiful well-maintained trail, easy hour in, hour out. Met a huge bear on the trail (def the biggest I've seen in CA) right at a blind corner, which really surprised both the bear and us. We backed up and gave him lots of room and we all went on our way.

Awesome walk, hardly any incline. Really great views. We went in early October and there was nobody on the trail, which made for a really peaceful walk. Watch out for bears

A nice hike for the family. There were great views of the forest and the pond. The downside was that we had to park a little over 1/2 mile from the trail head. That added a bit to our hike and our kids were pretty tired by the end of it. We also encountered a lot of bugs.

Great moderate 2.5-3hr hike, the lake was full and lillies were in bloom! Be sure to go to the very end as there is a beautiful open field of flowers leading to the lake.

A lot of mosquitoes, once we crossed the creek. Couldn’t really enjoy the pond or the hike back.

Easy loop trail. Wide, flat road. Watch for bears in this area.

This was a nice hike to take in Fall--the leaves were changing and there was a little bit of snow on the ground (enough for me to attempt to make a small snowman), but the area wasn't particularly scenic. I prefer more viewpoints and this hike didn't have many. The lake pond was pretty empty this time of year, but I imaging it would be more full in early summer.
