My husband and I did this trail this weekend. We hiked 10 miles to sunrise high camp where we spent the first night out. The second day we hiked all the way down to the valley which was 19 miles and took 10 hours. We arrived as the sun set. The last three to four miles are straight down and hard on the feet and knees. I would recommend spending two nights on this trail to really enjoy it. Camping at Sunrise and then Little Yosemite Valley would be perfect. Amazing views and photo ops! An amazing hike.

My first ever backpacking trip. Hard and incredible. The views are outstanding, and I think it's easier to get to Half Dome this way than from the Valley floor.
