Four Mile Beach is a 1.2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Santa Cruz, California that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips and is accessible year-round.
Tons of ticks because of how overgrown the trail is at many parts. Otherwise, beautiful hike. I know what you’re thinking: “Is this trail Covid-19 friendly?” If it’s empty, yes. Otherwise much of the trail can be pretty narrow and you’ll have a lot of mountain bikers pass you near the beach cliff half of it.
Love this beach. Surfer spot. Tide pools I suspect in am/pm are amazing but most of the exposed ones mid day are sadly dead due to being unprotected and visited so much in last 25yrs. Keep it beautiful and remember to pick up your trash. Not for inexperienced swimmers, tide is strong. Ideal spot to take lazy afternoon nap and explore surrounding trails or picnic with friends.
