really beautiful trail! pretty easy, but still a good challenge. there were two steep parts - one at the beginning and one at the end. we went counter-clockwise on the trail so they were both uphill. but there are short detours if you want something a little easier. beautiful views the entire time. went at 10am on a saturday. not many parking spots but we got one. trails were not crowded!

Beautiful! Not too many people on a Sunday at noon. Good mix of uphill and downhill. Great views. Will certainly be back.

It is not an easy trail especially when I'm trying to get my 8yo boy into mountain biking.

There are ups and downs, wide and narrow, crosses other trails, many options, quite a dynamic trail. Kids and dog friendly, everyone wears a masks on the trail. Some parts have shades.

Narrow and steep on some parts. But really nice that it’s mostly in the shade and not many people, but enough to feel safe alone.

This was a good moderate hiking trail. However, I went a little further than this loop to the ultimate destination for some more mileage and that portion of the trail was quite steep and definitely more difficult. The trail wasn’t crowded overall and everyone was wearing a mask. There was also plenty of space for social distancing on the more crowded parts

HikingGreat!

So thankful that I had downloaded the map because honestly this loop trail can go longer or shorter depending on your sense of direction. I arrived at the forest hill dr trail head at 9:25 a.m. and there were only about 8 cars but by the time I finished both sides of the street were packed. Same thing for the cherry canyon motorway trailhead. Crowd came in later in the morning. (January 3, 2020)

Nice trail, good variety. Medium heavily trafficked (Saturday of a Holiday weekend). ~65% masked.

Solid and wide trail, lots of off shoots so you gotta keep a tally on your turns. Lots to explore, parking was easy and you do share the trail w bikes, hikers and their dogs. Will go back.

Nice uphill to challenge your cardio a bit. There were quite a few cyclists and they were communicative. People are nice. Two coyotes crossed out path. I liked the options to extend the trail or go a different route.

Much steeper than expected. My 4 year old had to be carried up some steep sections. But good overall.

Mountain bikingGreat!

Very fun! I went on my electric mountain bike up there and it was perfect. Plenty of room for my bike on the trail and very good stable terrain. It’s confusing staying on this trail I found I kept taking the wrong turn and going on another trail but it wasn’t a problem. There were city signs saying “no parking anytime” all throughout forest hill drive so I parked my car on Padres trail and it was still fine. Beware of tickets!

This hike is amazing! My dogs loved it. Lots of ways to shorten or lengthen it, you definitely need to follow this map if you wanna do this exact loop though. So pretty!

HikingNo shade

nice trails, lots of pathways you can take. Parking is available in the neighborhood on the street leading up. lots of signage to help you on your way. I went on a Sunday morning, around 10am and there were other people there, but it wasnt packed so you could keep a good distance from them. Most people wore masks, alot kept their dogs off leash too even though signs ask that dogs be kept on leash. Coyotes are also around, (one crossed our path near the entrance) so watch out and keep your small puppers safe! overall it was a nice hike, lots of California plants and wildlife to see and great views overlooking the city. Much of the trail has little to no shade, so be prepared for that too.

A nice easy hike... my little dog could handle it well. It was fairly lightly traveled and people were being respectful of distancing and mask wearing as much as feasible w/given trail widths. Do be careful of the mountain bikers... some are good at alerting and others are not.

Gorgeous trail with beautiful views! Probably one of the better ones I’ve done in the area. There were a fair few other hikers, dogs, and mountain bikers on the trail, but it definitely wasn’t too crowded for the weekend. There were a fair few twists, turns, and trail crossings, but the map on here helped us not get turned around. There are some fairly steep (yet short) declines as well, so it might not be good for older folks. Would highly recommend!
