Since COVID lockdown early March, this has been our favorite bike trail, except we cross over Hazel and come back to Old Folsom on the other side, which is less crowded and wider. This trail is pawed bike trail and dirt trail running almost parallel with each other. Best to come out early mornings though gets crowded by mid-Saturday. Most folks are nice but yes, some pro-bikers think they own the road, just heads up. If every have time to walk / bike in the evenings, almost nobody out there. Trail condition: good, clean, nicely maintained.

Had a hard time first getting to the trail from a dirt path. But once in the trail it’s mostly bike trail. Bikers were rude and not friendly. I even heard one say “stupid b$&!!” When I was at the bottom of a hill on the left like I’m supposed to be. He must have thought because I had my ear pods in that I wouldn’t hear it, but I did hear it!!!! Not very nice! Anyhow found 6 ticks on my white dog so spray your dog plus a preventative to help fight off ticks. The bike trail is close to the lake so some pretty good views.

More like a bike path. Not much of a hike. A good walk with some scenic views. Don’t recommend if looking for a decent hike

Relatively flat and easy trail, and since it’s an out and back, it’s great for beginners. Moderate amounts of shade and pretty scenery. The end of the trail ends at a recreation area, so there’s lots of shaded tables and bathrooms. We saw lots of pretty birds along the way including swans and a woodpecker.

I’d say this trail is better fitted for a biking trail. Long and flat for the most part.

It’s very hot in late morning or mid day but the trail they provide some shade. The saving grace is that there were many spots with river access to let the dog swim.

I really enjoyed this trail. There is the paved trail you can hike on or there is a trail a little bit below that is dirt. We walked on the dirt trail. We walked through downtown folsom to get to the trail head. I’d do it again.

The trail was good on the sides of the river. It had a cover of trees so didnt feel the heat.

A great trail the runs alongside the river. The paved path is perfect for running and biking and there are also “off road” sections closer to the river that are cool for those who want a more rustic experience.

Nice trail to road cycle and run. I connected onto the trail from the American River Parkway.

Great walk. There are many places to start/end. We really like starting in downtown Folsom or at the trailhead parking lot of Parkshore Drive. You can choose to walk on the paved path or there is a rather nice dirt path used for "hiking", mountain bikes, and horses that is between the paved path and the river. It is nicely shaded and meanders nicely through the foliage.

Great afternoon walk. We went on a Friday afternoon and while we did see a good number of people biking/ running/ walking, it was by no means busy or crowded.

Pretty cool cliff areas to jump off if going on a swim but the bikers are very rude.. had two bump into me and almost made me fall then one of them had the audacity to say "watch out" and shake his head as if it was my fault.. I was on the far left btw.

Bikers are very rude and will run you off! We stayed on the left as the posting stated and still got run into the weeds. The trail is wonderful, wish the bikers knew how to share

My favorite trail in the Folsom/sacramento area. The trail follows the river and weaves in and out of the trees. The majority of it is under trees, so it will be nice during the summer.

This is the southern portion of the Lake Natomas loop. Part of it is right along the freeway which is awful but thankfully short lived. The trail is shaded and good for hike and bike.
