Fisherman's Camp Loop and Tenaja Falls is a 6.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Lake Elsinore, California that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Great hike and easy even for beginners looking for a longer more “adventurous” hike. Start at Fisherman’s trail head and work your way around. A little overgrown, but totally manageable. Don’t know how people do this after it rains, because the creek crossing is quite large. Biggest downside is the nearly 1.5 walk back to your car on the paved road. Overall fun, and would do it again.
Only did a portion of this loop because we had to extra due to crazy traffic coming in and out so we parked far away. There’s lots of poison oak by the river and crossing is pretty tricky so I wouldn’t call this an easy hike, especially with dogs. But the falls are pretty :)
Hubby, I and dogs have done this trail a few time during different seasons. This is not for those looking for current conditions but to say we did this last winter with snow and ice and made for an interesting and challenging hike trying to stay up right. Trail has always been well maintained trail, mostly in the sun but does retreats down into a oak tree shaded pretty campground. Nice picnic spot.
The final part of this “loop” was the road down to the next trail head. Other than that this was absolutely amazing and very easy
Great trail. I want to do it again and take the lower route by the river from Fishermans camp area to Tenaja falls. Also, at least 2 more trails I seen from Fishermans camp. Lots of options. Beautiful area, even when the weather is less than ideal. Only complaint is the road back to that area. 1 lane 2 way traffic with a few pull offs.
I would rate this hike as easy to moderate because of the couple creek crossings and the sometimes poorly marked trail. If you decide to this trail please use the app and be prepared to get your feet wet. Otherwise fun hike and trail with great views.
So many beautiful flowers and a couple water crossings. pretty easy but a good workout. Had a wonderful day
Perfect weather if you start at about 730am. We finished at 1130am walking at a moderate pace, stopping to take pictures here and there. Creek beds are all dried up this time of year. Water was only found in a select few places. Best views were of the valley as you're driving in.
