I’m a 25 year old male, a regular runner and frequent marathoner, and I found the first mile of this very tiering. You must have proper footwear and preferably poles and a partner. The first mile is narrow and requires scrambling up flimsy sandstone that crumbles at your feet while climbing at a 50-65% incline. The next 3 miles to peak are much, much easier, beautiful and worth the trek. Mt. Lowe campground is a must! I would not recommend going down the same way you come up the first mile. It’s far too dangerous.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a challenge. Great view and lots of small wildlife. Mostly lizards. Do not attempt unless absolutely sure of your ability to walk up steep slippery slopes. Lots of potential for spills, tumbles and injury due to the dusty slippery steep nature of what seems to be a dry mountain stream. There is also an abundance of shallow crevices just waiting to snap an ankle. Be extra cautious in the spring and summer, the trail can become overgrown with flowery bushes that bees and hornets like to hangout on. Walking through them could be a leap of faith. Overall pretty good, would hike again.

This is a 45m hard since the beginning, after that is moderated all the way to the top, closest to inspiration point, very good hiking

This trail should be rated Hard and not Moderate. I attached the gpx for the track we took. It's almost a 27~30% grade for 2 miles. The last section involves little scrambling on rocks. I would still rate it 5 star since you get a strenuous workout after this. If you are alone, I would not suggest taking the same route back, since it will be dangerous to climb down the steep rocks.

I did the first leg only, but it was steep, rutted, and treacherous. There were very steep sections that required scrambling. Whoever rated this moderate hasn't done it.
