We went to the dog beach. A lovely time was had by all.

Great trail for so many activities. ♥️ You’re on road next to the sand the whole way, but traffic flow makes it safe for cyclists and runners alike. Will return.

Flat running...mostly on pavement. Nice view of bay, at sunrise...some beach overnighters and can collectors.

The official trail seems to follow the road. Most of its length does not have a trail alongside it, so we walked on the beach. Views are not great but it's one of the few areas you can bring your dog to a beach (and there is a large off-leash area on the western side of the island by the southern parking lot on the beach - the area where AT shows a number of criss-crossing trails). Lots of people making fires in the many fire-pits in the evenings.

Not my favorite in San Diego. Lots of traffic, hot during the summer. no shade or facilities. There are much nicer trails near the water to walk. Ok for biking, I guess.

Cooler breezes when weather is warm rather than an inland trail. Very busy on weekends. Be aware of your surroundings, homeless camps in bushes and along water. There are loop trails in middle of island too. Our dog loves to run free and chase lizards while walking the area. There are porta potties placed around island. Please leave no trace, pick up dog poo.

Lots of traffic, trash. No shade or facilities usually, bring lots of water while on the island. A nice trip to the bay though and a very easy ride.

This is a great trail for road biking, or if you’re just trying to ride your mountain bike very casually. You could definitely ride it on the dirt for a more bumpy ride if you’re looking to get your basics down. For me I was breaking in my new mountain bike, as well as the tubeless tires. This has some great views, plenty of places to stop, and Porta potty’s. Just make sure when you come here it is not during a major event, otherwise it might be a nightmare.

Standard loop. Not too exciting for me

not really a hike. the trail is actually a busy roadway. the bay is pretty but you're just walking around the island on a lumpy beach.

Nice place for a lot of things

Not so much a hike as just walking along the road by various little stretches of water. Come here with your dog to play with other dogs by the water.

Not really for hiking... bring your dog to the beach but otherwise not much of a destination

Nice walk today.

Beautiful place to walk your dog....wide-open spaces and beaches for them to play in.

Not really a trail. Spent 4 miles on a small shoulder.

I would not really consider this a trail, but it is a nice walk.

There is no trail for peds. You have to share road with cars and bicycles.

I hiked here with my 5lb Pomeranian and she loved it. Not the prettiest of hikes though. The only advantage is walking along the "island".

Pretty nice walk with my dog.

Great for dogs but there was jellyfish in the water.

It is not a full circle. You can not get through on the PB part of the trail. You need to go back the way you came. Only dogs are allowed during certain times of the day and the bathrooms are closed (conserving water or something like that).
