People were running on the dirt path, lots of cars but at least they go one way. We did a small beach cleanup- so much trash! I would t recommend going in the water to swim. Lots of people on watercraft or kite surfing. Very windy!

No shade, windy, yo have to wear glasses. The road is shared for bikes and cars. Nice place for water sports. Not so kids friendly.

Could imagine running or doing this on a bike, otherwise would pass. Pure exercise route, no sights to see really.

Paved trail, beautiful views. You have to be careful since the road is shared by pedestrians, cyclists and cars. Recommend starting clockwise to be able to see traffic. Carry a hat and water, expect you'll feel the heat as the day goes on. You can park in a small off road area immediately after turning into fiesta island.

Haven’t ran in a while so this was the perfect place to get back into it. Flat and during the week days there isn’t much vehicle traffic.

Great trail for so many activities. ♥️ You’re on road next to the sand the whole way, but traffic flow makes it safe for cyclists and runners alike. Will return.

Flat running...mostly on pavement. Nice view of bay, at sunrise...some beach overnighters and can collectors.

The official trail seems to follow the road. Most of its length does not have a trail alongside it, so we walked on the beach. Views are not great but it's one of the few areas you can bring your dog to a beach (and there is a large off-leash area on the western side of the island by the southern parking lot on the beach - the area where AT shows a number of criss-crossing trails). Lots of people making fires in the many fire-pits in the evenings.

Not my favorite in San Diego. Lots of traffic, hot during the summer. no shade or facilities. There are much nicer trails near the water to walk. Ok for biking, I guess.

Cooler breezes when weather is warm rather than an inland trail. Very busy on weekends. Be aware of your surroundings, homeless camps in bushes and along water. There are loop trails in middle of island too. Our dog loves to run free and chase lizards while walking the area. There are porta potties placed around island. Please leave no trace, pick up dog poo.

Lots of traffic, trash. No shade or facilities usually, bring lots of water while on the island. A nice trip to the bay though and a very easy ride.

Mountain biking

This is a great trail for road biking, or if you’re just trying to ride your mountain bike very casually. You could definitely ride it on the dirt for a more bumpy ride if you’re looking to get your basics down. For me I was breaking in my new mountain bike, as well as the tubeless tires. This has some great views, plenty of places to stop, and Porta potty’s. Just make sure when you come here it is not during a major event, otherwise it might be a nightmare.
