Great hike! Lots of redwoods and other nature. Only thing to heed is that while there is only 800’ elevation gain, it is constant uphill and downhill so it can give you a definite workout

Beautiful forest! Can’t wait to come back and explore via other trails. This was a good loop, however too much was on a vehicle access road for my liking. Rained the night before and was in pretty good condition, wet but not super muddy/slippery. Come here!

This was a pretty loop through a community forest of second growth redwoods in the city of Arcata. It was heavily trafficked with hikers, bikers, runners, horseback riders, and people simply hanging out. Some city noise as well. Pretty enough if one is looking for an easy chill hike. If instead one is looking for old growth redwoods and peace and quiet, go north to one of the state or national parks.

Did not know that they connect, started on the community Forest side and sent it down trail 11 on the ridge trail.

Be prepared to ask yourself left or right as you lose GPS signal! But all is well, all trails lead to each other, your journey may just be longer!

Gorgeous trees and ferns, easy wide trails, but hard to stay on path.

Really beautiful maze of hiking trails. Definitely recommend downloading the map because there is poor service and many forks in the trail. But we had a lovely time despite getting turned around a couple times.

Absolutely beautiful! We missed a few turns because some forks are not clearly marked, but found our way. A good mix of wide gravel trails, and narrow, windy, branch trails.

The community forest is a great, wide open space to get lost in for the afternoon or all day! It’s great! It can get secluded there, but it’s not completely...still fun though!

HikingGreat!

Beautiful forested hike. We sort of lucked into finding this trail and were never really sure of where we were as there were no maps available. We started down #9 from Fickle Hill Road, turned down #1 , then #2, then #3 which led us back to #9, making a this a full loop.

Lovely loop trail next to Redwood Park. Always cool and shady under the trees. There are many different trails that intersect, so until you know your way around, be sure to track your route!

I just moved to Arcata and was having some major new change anxiety - I love hiking so I thought I'd give this place a try to work off some tension. I was blown away by how gorgeous it is here. I saw enough people on the trail to feel comfortable hiking alone but there weren't too many to be saturated or trafficked. I followed the loop according to AllTrails and it was a great little workout. Most of the hike is pretty chill but there's this one uphill section that lasts for ages and definitely got me sweating and feeling better. I love this place I can't wait to continue exploring.
