Nice views, wide trails for the most part, steep at first but then not too bad on upper switch backs. Dog friendly.

I started on Fern Cyn Trail and ended up on the heli-pad area and the turned around... at night! Great night hike for beginners or someone who wants to get in about 4 miles after work. A few parts are a little steep and can get slippery with the gravel-soil. If you have good hiking shoes, you'll be fine. Free parking near Visitor's Center or in Merry Go Round Lot#1. I highly recommend this hike with an addition leg to Mt Hollywood.

Beautiful views, satisfying hike. Achievable for beginners like me. Steep incline at the beginning and then pretty easy after that.

Agree with a recent reviewer...very lush and green after some recent rains. Ends at a very popular viewpoint with epic views of downtown and the Observatory.

Nice walk along a fire road with some moderate inclines that seem a bit more trail-like. Too many people leaving their animal poop bags around and on the trail. LNT you jerks!

This trail is about a mile up the mountain and is pretty steep on some parts. You can choose to go up to a couple other trails, we decided to go to the water stop. Lots of people in the trail. Go early and bring lots of water. We went around 8am and it was crowded. Easier coming down definitely.

Dog-friendly trail. Started at Merry Go Round Lot 1, took Fern Canyon Trail to the Upper Beacon Trail. This leads you to a helipad (nondescript slab of asphalt) with great views of the city and the Observatory. Most of the incline will be at the start of your hike. Solid choice at Griffith Park with easy, free parking. FYI the signs are a little confusing at the trail head.
