NOTE: All park visitors must have a reservation to access the trails in Canyon Park. Access to waterfall trail is closed. This is a forked hike into two canyons. The mushrooms around the rocks with the little meadows, and the waterfalls and creeks provide a sense of wonderment. $5 parking fee.

Bring a camera, thin clothing that can be layered. Even though we went during a winter (if winter can be called that in southern california), there was cool freshness and could get hot as we climbed and walked. Plenty of water. Make sure that the footwear is safe and can keep you dry.

It’s open again but you need a reservation to use this trailhead. Didn’t know that until we got here so he sure to check online ahead of time, oops. Not sure if reservation includes parking fee ($10). Sure looked super fun though.

Great hike today. Weather was perfect. We parked in the neighborhood and walked up to the ranger station. No paper maps available but was told which direction to head and trails would be marked. For the most part that was true however a little confusion at the water falls marker. Trail forked off and we later found it was just to the other parking lots. Falls trail was in mostly shade so would be good in the summer. Small space for the falls once you’re there but luckily not a lot of people. We made our way back and did the 3/4 mile hike up to the look out. Reading about the Boy Scout camp trail we asked at the ranger station. We decided that would be another day. I did later find a park map on line. Would love to go back and do the other trail. We did see one garter snake on the trail and luckily no bears.

I highly recommend here if you truly want to hike and enjoy amazing view with almost 100% shade by trees and leaves around and top of you during hiking. The trail is one of the best that I have seen in my life it’s moderate till a point around the dam where the truck road ends(blocked) and changes to hard! But still amazingly beautiful view and trail. So natural and low traffic

Park on the hill leading up to the trail head, on the weekend the parking spaces are usually full. they cost $5 or so to park. Good hike up hill in. down hill back out. half is asphalt road. we took the right side that goes by the boy scouts camp. it's a nice hike next to small dams with running water.

Went to the East. The paved part is a pain, but gets you to the trail. Took the trail up past the shooting range and took the next left (3 miles maybe). It makes a nice loop with great views and little people (most stop at the end of the paved road). Worth the effort!!

The hike to the waterfall is pretty, even in the fall. The other part is uphill on asphalt for quite awhile, but when you get onto the US Forest Service trail at the top it’s beautiful. This map has you stop at kind of a random point on the trail. It’s worth walking further. Uphill on the way out, downhill coming back. Was glad I wore hiking boots rather than running shoes.

Beautiful views. Though you feel far from the city, easily accessible from heart of LA. Worth a few hours.

Nice trail. We started at about 8:30am on a Sunday and it was crazy busy by the time we got to the waterfall. It was good for the dog because there were some creek crossings that she was able to drink from. The waterfall at the end was pretty tiny.

I parked my car at residential area closest to the park (~645 N Canyon Blvd.) and walked about a mile to the trail entrance for the waterfall. The paid parking right in front of the park was already busy at 7:30am. The trail going to the waterfall was beautiful with lots of shade and people. It'd be fun exploring off trail. The trail going to the east was on boring paved road without much shade, not much to see.

Great spot to just get away and go for a walk. My dog loved it ! He loves playing in the river. Weekends get packed though so it’s best to go early in the morning.

I was disappointed. At the ranger station there should be a big or small overall map of the place. The beginning of the Waterfall should be clearly marked especially since this is a major attraction. There are several asphalt roads. It was was very confusing if I am entering into somebody's private property or a public acess road or trails. For example I. walked to the Water Dam area. It was nice. From the water fall's trail and on the map, the dam looked very far.It turned out only a 10 minutes or so walking distance. I was hoping to enter the actual dam, but it was all fenced out. it was alright.I kept on walking up the asphalt road it leaded to two roads. One it said the Scout Reservation( private property. The other dirt road which looked like a trail leads to Ben Overturff something like that on the map. I decided to turned around. There were three big Southern California Edison contractor trucks (big ones) blocking the road. There were some wires on the ground.Again a sign at the entrance where it said Trask something like that could have clearly mark map would have been very helpful. Being disappointed,I walked up to another asphalt road ( cabin rental area). Another dead end road. Since the day was still unspent, I did goto the water falls.I will give another shot next time to see if could reach Ben Overturff area.

Really nice trail. I went hiking there with a group of friends all 50+. It has handicap parking. Picnic tables in an open area that was accessible to the handicap in the group. It is a easy, well maintained trail, well shaded and short so you can go back and enjoy time with family and friends.

Beautiful overlook of Monrovia canyon to start. I can’t believe I’ve never done this little gem of a trail. My 6 month old puppy loved it as well. Go now while there’s plenty of water in the falls and streams!

3 stars because there was a waterfall. Other than that, only so-so. I had to park 3/4 of s mile from the gate to the park area, at 8am on a Saturday. The left fork of the hike to the waterfall was a nice, short little trail; and I will probably bring my kids back for that portion of the hike. Tons of people on this section. The right fork of the trail was a paved road the vast majority of the way; and hiking on streets is not really my idea of hiking. Less populated than the waterfall fork, s that was nice. Once I got back onto a dirt trail at the top of the right fork I added a couple of extra miles loop on, since it was nice to finally feel like I was out in nature.
