This is a paved road closed to traffic. Beautiful scenery, rolling hills and fields with cattle. Lots of prairie dogs entertaining the pedestrians. Bicycles and runners using this stretch as well. If your dog likes to hunt prairie dogs keep them leashed.

Hiking

A friend recommended this trail as I am an avid hiker. Very disappointing hike. If you are going to run or ride your bike then there are lots of animals to see and some pretty views. If you actually like to hike in dirt with inclines, don’t bother. The road is paved & I prefer to run on dirt. It’s also a little creepy out there.

Not a lot of hills on this one, which is great! Not much shade so early morning jogs are best to beat the heat. Fully paved, with a lot of wildlife around so watch out for snakes!

This trail is nicely paved. It’s got some good inclines. The wind can pick up a bit between the mountains. Look out for stray roaming cows.

Love this trail!!! It’s both shady, and not. Uphill, downhill, and flat, making it an ideal run. The road can be pretty bumpy in places, making stroller running a little difficult for baby at times... but it’s overall a comfortable ride. This trail can be kinda creepy. I never noticed how desolate and scary it is until today... I think it’s a good idea to bring some kind of protection because once your mind starts to wander, you’ll get uncomfortably anxious pretty quick. I have overheated out here a few times, the dry grass and hot pavement really take a toll during the last couple of miles where there are no trees, so bring water!

Nice closed road to ride bikes, but a little rough. Definitely a good workout with lots of rolling hills. Plenty of street parking at Mesa Ridge Dr. and Empire Mine. Some shade at mid section and not heavily trafficked. Nice scenery. Smells like cow.

My favorite place to take the dog on a rainy day. Also offers a back way into Black Diamond Mines Regional Park (requires hopping a No Trespassing gate)

Running

Not so much a trail as a closed, paved road, which suited me fine. Perfect for a relatively straightforward run. Went out on a Sunday just after 9:00 and it was pretty desolate out there. Since you are in the middle of nowhere with no one around, bring a friend or other self defense equipment if that might unnerve you. Otherwise it’s pretty scenic and relatively easy. Can access from either end, with the only significant hill at the Mesa Ridge entry area. Would definitely do it again to run. Would not consider it for walking/hiking unless you want something easy and to take pics.

This is a paved road closed to traffic. Beautiful scenery once passing houses. Rolling hills and fields with happy content cattle younger and older. It's of prairie dogs entertaining pedestrians. Bicycles and runners using this stretch as well. If your dog likes to hunt prairie dogs keep them leashed, there are huge colonies as you can see in hills. Ad they are curios! Enjoy!
