This was a fun trail to run on. The trail is in excellent condition, it is clearly well cared for. It is like you have the best of both worlds, a great trail in the old tall trees, with a view of the meadow where elk frequent.

Bette trail than I thought it would be. There are some very nice redwoods on the east side. There were only a half dozen elk in the meadow I could see from the east. By the time I got around to get closer they were gone.

Easy trail that can been made into a loop trail (see Matt's review) according to the rangers the elk are not seen in the meadow as often as they once were.

Pretty average trail that follows the east side of the meadow through the trees. It makes a good connector going from Cathedral Trees trail around to the campground without taking the road. Once you loop around to the west side of the meadow, take the left turn onto the "nature trail" to go to the campground south loop. There are also usually some elk around.
