A glacier-carved alpine lake located at the base of Unicorn Peak offers scenic views and tranquility. Elizabeth Lake (9,487 feet) is located at the base of Unicorn Peak (10,823 feet) and easily accessible from the Tuolumne Meadows campground. The Elizabeth Lake trail begins in the B loop of the campground, rises gradually along Unicorn Creek for about 2.3 miles, and gains 1,000 feet in elevation change to reach the lake. You need to cross the creek to reach the lake side at the end of trail. In the snow melting season, the creek may be too deep and swift to cross. For people who seek solitude and tranquility, this is a good hike to enjoy in the Tuolumne Meadows area.

This was a beautiful hike, with great views at the top. There is still a large amount of snow on the trail and you have to forge a waist-deep river to get to the lake side. The Current was very strong so we decided not to forge the river. Probably would be a better hike in a month when the snow is gone and the water is down. Hike is mostly uphill.

Amazing hike, unbelievable wildlife. Downside: mosquitoes, along the whole hike they were no stopping trying to bite us. Bring long sleeves is a must. Note: no dogs are allowed!

Last time I visited the lake was frozen over and the trail was mostly lost to the snow. One of my best memories in the park.

Grate hike easy grade - boggy at the lake in late June

Started early on this 2.5 mile 1000 foot climb in to the beautiful lakes that rests at the foot of the granite cliffs leading to Unicorn pt. Nobody there when we arrived...met 70 people and mules on our way out before noon. Allow an extra mile of walking if you circle the lake on the trails. Trout..Mule Deer..and tree frogs along the hike. Tough inbound for us 50 year olds...the teens had no problems.

loved this trail, it's a great hike for getting use to the high attitude in Yosemite. We hiked it in early September and the weather was great. be sure to take a fishing pool with you!

This is an easy hike from the Tuolomne Meadows Campground area. The hike is an out and back up to a Elizabeth Lake, which is ringed by beautiful peaks. The lake itself is calm and relatively warm (for the area).

Elizabeth Lake, Yosemite National Park, Ca is a gentle, picturesque hike under Unicorn Peak. About 4 1/2 miles (add about a mile if you walk around the lake) out/back. This is a great half day hike after a midday arrival to the park. Access the trailhead from the Tuolomne campground, beyond loop B (follow the signs).
